NJ★NY TC Ready To Storm the Armory: Nine Athletes to Compete at 107th NYRR Millrose Games

The storm has come and gone but the action is about to heat up on Saturday at the 107th NYRR Millrose Games.  The meet is being held at the New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory in New York City. The NJ★NY Track Club has nine athletes scheduled to compete tomorrownight at the most historic and prestigious indoor track meet in the country.
We are excited and honored to have our athletes competing in this year’s NYRR Millrose Games,” stated head coach Frank Gagliano.  “The meet is in our backyard and being able to compete against the best in the world in New York is special for us.”
The club is poised to continue its outstanding season as it comes off a weekend in Boston where it set the american record in the men’s 4x800m, had 14 athletes set indoor personal bests and qualify for the USA Indoor Championships, and had 5 athletes meet the IAAF World A standard.
The athletes competing at the NYRR Millrose Games are:
Women’s 3000m

PAAVO NURMI MEN’S 2,000m

Lauren PENNEY  – Last weekend, Lauren ran 4:31. at the BU Invitational (2nd place) to set a personal best by over 6 seconds.  Her time is the 9th fastest in the U.S. this year.
Nicole SCHAPPERT – Last weekend, Nicole ran 4:32.37 to set her personal best in the indoor 1 mile. Her time is the 10th fastest time in the U.S. this year.
Donn CABRAL – Last weekend, Donn ran 7:51.23 to set a personal and club record  in the 3000m at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.
 
Travis MAHONEY – Last weekend, Travis broke 4:00 for the first time, running 3:58.61 to finish 5th at the BU Valentine Invitational.
Pat MCGREGOR – Last weekend, Pat broke 4:00 for the first time, running 3:58.70 to finish 6th at the BU Valentine Invitational.

Amanda WINSLOW – Last weekend, at the BU Valentine Invitational, Amanda ran 4:26.24; to become the 6th fastest U.S. women ever for the indoor 1 mile. Her time is the 3rd fastest in the U.S. this year.
Robby ANDREWS  – Last weekend, Robby ran the 3rd leg on the american record setting relay. The day before he ran 1:47.07; his personal best for the indoor 800m at the BU Valentine Invitational.
Mike RUTT  – Last weekend, Mike ran the anchor leg (split 1:46.66) on the american record setting relay. The day before he won the 800m at the BU Valentine Invitational in a time of 1:46.71 (indoor PR, #1 time in the U.S., USA championship qualifier, IAAF A standard).  He was also recognized as the USATF Athlete of the Week.

 

NYRR MEN’S WANAMAKER MILE

Brian GAGNON – Last weekend, Brian ran the 2nd leg (split 1:48.60)on the american record setting relay team.  The day before at the BU Valentine Invitational he finished 2nd in a time of 1:46.78 (indoor PR, #3 time in the U.S., USA championship qualifier, IAAF A standard).
The meet will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) from 3:00 – 5:00pm ET (click here to locate the NBCSN channel in your area). Additionally coverage will be available from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on USATF.tv.

Unfortunately, due to travel issues caused by yesterday’s storm the NJ★NY TC athletes entered in the Iowa State Classic in Ames, IA will not be competing.
