If Havel continues to develop, and given the coaching system he came from there is little doubt in mind that he will, he may be one of the greats. Obviously, it is early in his career. However, I should note that he finished something like 4th in the state xc meet, which places him really only behind Jorge Torres for freshman placing (Jorge was 2nd as a frsoh- Don Sage was, I think, 24th as a frosh, though his time was very fast).
I think Havel gets a lot of notice because he runs in a state that tends to get a lot of press for hs xc and track. Sin Taye also deserves serious props, and may also develop into one of the greats.
With Sean MacNamara injured and just returning from that injury, the field for state is truly wide open. Sean has gone sub 9 in time trials, and his teammate Matt Dettman has run 9.07, but I could not predict the results of the upcoming race.
