What we have learned from such cheats is that it is important to pretend to align with a child-based charity. I'm not saying this old guy is a cheat, I'm just making a general comment.
(I am saying the Iron Cowboy and Rob Young were cheats).
From his gofundme:
"100% of the money raised from this run will go directly to charities and will be used to support their programs.
I have been very fortunte enough to have been promissed a great deal of aid for the run. However even with all this support I am still short the necessary resources to complete the journey."
Which is it? Is 100% of the money going to charities or for resources to complete the journey? What other charities besides the Semper Fi Fund mentioned?

Personally I was so inspired I donated $50 to his go fundme. You can find the link on his facebook page.
No you didn't.
There is one donor, and for only $25.

He meant to say 50 pesos.
I instinctively never trust anyone who does something like this. 100% of the time they are just collecting money for themselves and masquerade it with "charity work". Charities themselves are total scams. Never trust any "charities".
I saw a gofundme once of a black man who didn't want to work.
You must be Jimmy from Staten Island .

I make all my donations to The Human Fund. Money for People.
Just to clear a few things up.
1. I turned 52 last year and had planned on doing the run last year but couldn't get the logistics together. I did complete 52, 52 mile runs for the year.
2. The run was originally planned to be 52 miles a day for 52 days to go from MCRD San Diego to MCRD Parris Island. One of my ultra running friends pointed out the masters record was only 300 miles more than what I had planned so I changed the route to make the mileage.
3. I was originally going to raise money for multiple charities but only the Semper Fi Fund could get their act together and set me up with a fundraising portal. The Go Fund Me page is just for people that want to help cover some of my expenses for the run. All donations for Semper Fi Fund will be made directly to the Semper Fi Fund so 100% of the donations go directly to them.
I have actually been preparing for a transcon run for about 10 years. This year it finally fell into pace. Anyone who wants to join me is more than welcome.
Cheers.
Well, I guess this is starting tomorrow.
good luck to the guy....
i've been following but seems more like a hike than run. he's just made it to arizona about 250+ miles behind his schedule so seems more like 100 days run. his daily facebook vids are really good
We are watching you, son.
According to his tracker he's covered 157 miles in 7 days. So about 22 miles/day. If he keep that up for 52 days, he'll cover 1100 miles and still be tragically short (by 150 miles) of Oklahoma City.
This is definitely a feet for the aegis.
So I donated $100 for him to walk 6 hours a day? This seems like a scam.
He apparently has to manually update his spot tracker. At the start he did it every hour, now it's more like 4x a day. He lost his garmin day 3-5ish. He said at the start that he didn't have a solar charger but i guess he has one now.
There's no accountability in this but I don't think that's what he's going for. Think the record business was just a pipe dream. He hasn't gone over 30 a day since the start
How on earth do you lose a garmin? Did it get wrapped around somebody's sausage?
And what's with the manually updating the tracker? Doesn't that defeat the entire purpose of the tracker? It's sort of like sending a text 4 times a day, "well, I covered another 5 miles. K thx bye"
This guys a total scammer. He wanted a 52 day paid vacation and is getting one courtesy of dimwits.
I highly doubt this is meant to be a money maker or scam for him. I don't think it was put together well or well thought out.
Well here it is... just posted this an hour ago:
"Im ok. Passed out and phone died. Charged enough to send this. I'm the move again."
So you're saying he's just mentally ill? In that case, he has my sympathies.
You shouldn't call him a retard. Moran is fine.
