Do you find that helps with glute activation?
I run with it only when I am not with someone else and for music only. I don't do workouts with my phone, so nothing faster than easy pace is run with my phone. I will do some long runs with it and get down to tempo pace the past few miles. This just helps me slog out the miles without getting bored out of my mind.
Steeple PR: 10:20

Ran 17:3X for 5k recently, so I'm not in very good shape.

yes, always, to track my runs and take selfies. Unless I'm trying to run a PB, then I carry it but leave it off.

Phone, GU, hydration pack, nutrition bars, flashlight - ALWAYS I run long distances (3-6 miles) on Sunday mornings and it can be rough on the roads here. PRs: 5k - 24:2710k - 49:44HM- 2:14:33 (had to walk as my legs seized up)

I have never run with my phone and never will.
For many years I ran without a watch. No gear: no music, no phone, no nutrition/water, no watch. I eventually gave in and started using a Garmin.
When I bike I do bring my phone (saddle bag).
Never when running, but usually when cycling (farther from home and it doesn't bounce around in a pocket).

Marathon at age 33 - 2:42:50
Recent (past year) half marathon - 1:40:25
Most of the time no, only on my long runs and definitely trail runs. Usually if I drive my car somewhere to run rather than running out of my house then I will bring my phone. I hate running with it though.

That's a world record. Must be fake.
Don't think of it as a phone. It's 2016 so think about it as technology. Garmins are the same thing...
I do if I'm running w/my daughter or running in an unfamiliar area. No shame in doing so.
Age- None of your business
PR- It was late in life
Current fitness - it's ok

This is the right answer. Phones are practically worn on wrists now - so congratulations you've just saved yourself $4908967 from an unnecessary watch.
Wow congrats brah! I also know an Olympic Trials Marathoner dude (1:03, 2:18) who runs in soccer cleats and woman's lacrosse goggles.

No. I don't listen to music while I run and I don't want to be in contact with anyone either. Even when I am on the treadmill I just leave my phone at home or in my gym bag. The only time I will take my phone is when I am out for a long trail run where I am unfamiliar with the trails.

Anyone can carry a phone. It's a scary world out there. Loser hobby yoggers listen to music. I was running with a group one day with my phone in my armband. A guy asked me if I forgot my headphones. I've never been more insulted in my life.
Thus, I'm not a loser hobby yogger. I'm a hobby yogger.

A Garmin is not the same as a phone. Not even close. Granted, I'm really old school and only wear a watch for track work. I don't even own a GPS watch.
Great diversity shown in the responses thus far. Thanks everyone!
