Hitler, Stalin, and all the Kennedys were no more horrible than Scalia. Good riddance.

Who is going to tell Clarence Thomas how to vote now?

Having worked at the Federal Appeals Court level, you would be very surprised how well judges from both sides of the political spectrum get along. From everything I've heard, the Supreme Court gets along well, too. I would imagine the left of center justices on the SCOUS would be absolutely disgusted by some of these comments.

The draft dodging coward Clarence Thomas should feel right at home listening to the draft dodging coward drug felon Limbaugh.

Doesn't matter how much his cronies liked him, Antonin Scalia went to hell because of what was in his evil black heart.
It would be absurd to refuse to approve anyone to the court for an entire year. This is the way it works. The sitting president nominates someone to fill vacancies on the court and the Senate very rarely turns them down and not in my memory does it delay anywhere near that long. 4-4 for a year does not really serve Republican interests as much as they might think. For one thing, it defeats a lot of Republican attempts to overthrow Obama's policies. For another thing, there's been quite a lot of talk of the Senate returning to Democratic control next year as well as the possibility of a Democratic president to the left of Obama. In other words, the Republican majority in the Senate might consider it a better idea to, as it were, negotiate a more moderate nominee from Obama this year than get a Lani Guinier next year.
man was a prick and ruled multiple times against interest of country when it counted most - including weeks ago on climate legislation. he was theojurist whose appointment, in light of his views, violated first part of first amendment.

Do not care what his collegues feel about the comment I'm about to make.
The world is a better place without Antonin Scalia. If there were a hell he would be there right now. There is nothing to mourn. I celebrated when I heard this news.
Here is the new supreme court justice ( to be confirmed in a few months):

So Bernie or Hilary will nominate the next SCJ. Great. We winning any which way you cut it.
It would be sort of amusing if Bernie wins, democrats pick up 5 seats and some ultraliberal person gets nominated. Or if democrats get 51 votes and the republicans win the presidency. Do they just veto everyone until the next election so that the people have a chance to speak? What about is another justice or 2 die/retire (i.e. a couple of them are getting north of 80)?
The next couple predential elections could transform the court. Realistically Scalia (80), Kennedy (79.5), Ginsburg (almost 83) are not going to make it another 9 years on the court (either by death or retirement). And someone like Breyer (77) is probably 50/50. That could result in abnormally high turnover.

According to Wikipedia (please post something that refutes it), he failed a medical exam for the draft for curvature of the spine. Seems like a week reason but it is not like he was someone famous at the time.
I bet he has dealt with more crap in his life than you ever will. Dude grew up in Savannah, GA during Jim Crow...
Limbaugh also was booted based on medical conditions. Limbaugh was not convicted of a crime (he was addicted to painkillers--all too common---and probably was doctor shopping). He paid a fine and agreed to some other terms.
Neither man had much pull at the time to avoid service so any conspiracy theory would have to be pretty out there.
For the record, I am not a Limbaugh fan. I have tremendous respect for Clarence Thomas though.

Another loving liberal.
You're far worse than a guy like Scalia.

Um, and you seem to not have a clue about anything.
Every term I used to describe him was 100% spot on.
"His respect for the court" ?? LOL! He flat out mocked other justices in his opinions. He showed ZERO respect for the other justices opinions.
That is not respecting the court in the least.
Ginsburg and Scalia were very good friends, despite different political ideologies. More folks could learn from that.

.
Limbaugh avoided serving for his country because of a pimple on his ass. This is an absolute true fact. And he is a drug felon, whether he was convicted or not. He committed multiple drug crimes and is therefore a felon. Limbaugh is the first in line advocating for other people to go to war and for criminals to go to prison. He is the very definition of a hypocrite.
I don't know how Thomas avoided serving his country, but he did. And he is an absolute lightweight when it comes to being a judge. Absolutely a disgrace having someone like that on the Supreme Court.
No .. what would be REALLY cool is when either Bernie or Hillary win and they appoint ... Justice Barack Hussain Obama to the bench.Condolences to Scalia's family .. but to Scalia himself .. f*** him.To those saying the president shouldn't get to appoint a new justice, you're forgetting .. the way it works is we vote for a president, for a four year term. Not a three year term. It would be highly unusual if the Senate blocks a SCOTUS appointment.

I am not loving. I hate pieces of sh*t like Scalia and I actively applaud their deaths. Just like I applauded the deaths of Osama bin Laden and Ronald Reagan. People who actively make the world a worse place deserve death and they deserve to rot in hell.

I remember reading a response of his to a question about their relationship and he said something like,"She's smart, she likes Opera. What's not to like?... Except for her views on jurisprudence?" I couldn't stand his, but he seemed like a funny guy. This is a yooge development.
Obama is going to nominate Bill Clinton for the open seat.
