There is no doubt the Emory has a strong top 3 and will be tough to beat in the S/SE regional.. The other question will be who is #2..W&L posted some smoking fast times this past weekend .I think Mac Strehler ran a 25:31 or so..Bridgewater has a solid pack of 4 guys with a 5th not far behind.. We are entering into the phase where we will see where the teams will match up..Since you asked I have moved Emory back into the #1 spot ..W&L and Bridgewater are neck and neck but based on this past weeks performance I would have to move W&L into the number 2 spot closely followed by Bridgewater at the number 3. Alot can change as teams start racing at tougher and faster meets..Times should fall..Will Bridgewaters top 4 break 26?? Will W&L's #4 and #5 tighten up the gap? Good stuff!!
Of course I realize that W&L and CNU I believe both ran at Paul Short..I saw times drop 40 and even 50 secs or more from several runners previous best..Not to take anything away from those efforts but it will be interesting to see if those times will pop back up when they run on a more average course as I believe they will ..I noticed the NCAA rankings really shuffled things around based on those times..I for one am not that easily swayed..I still feel Emory and Bridgewater are the top teams in the Region but I believe W&L may do some damge..and may suprise us all
Correction: W&L ran at Mike Woods course
Bobcat, are you a current Bridgewater student or an alum? Despite your weak attempt to pump up W&L, it is painfully obbvious what you really think
NEWSFLASH: Emory is the onyl meaningful team in the SSE right now, and long before we talk about Bridgewater we should expect W&L, CNU, and hell even rhodes or trinity to place get the 2nd spot. BW had a decen team last year but this aint last year
You are wrong on both counts..just love the sport..
Where did you go to college then champ
Sleepless it's tough to look at times and make values on who out ranks who but with that being said we will see if your thoughts are correct in a few weeks..

Not trying to pump up W&L I think they are a serious contender to win the ODAC and a serious S/SE top 2 finisher.. Do I like Bridgewater .. Yes I do .. I haven't hidden that fact at all but they've been hit by injuries but still have a solid top 4 .. Honestly I haven't seen CNU run this year but think highly of the program and the talent they have recruited.. Other than Emory who stands out.. I think the SSE is wide open this year..I could see several teams finish well.. But for right now I'm sticking to my latest rankings until I see more results...
Will Emory beat any nationally ranked teams at Oshkosh?
Yes - they're taking down Eau Claire, North Central, & WashU
I don't think it's gonna happen for your bridgewater boys this year bobcat
Maybe not but remember one of the top runners "Hill" went out early with an injury and Matt Dellinger redshirted this year..With both of them back next year you will be looking at a different story..
Well this has got to be the muddiest the SSE picture has been in awhile. Emory does well at AAE with Trinity rearing its head right behind them. Then throw in the W&L and Rhodes PR fest at Oberlin. Who knows if that course is short or just ran really fast, but w/ Rhodes edging out W&L I think we have to put their name in the hat now as well. With CNU doing well at their home meet and me not wanting to discount Bridgewater yet, there's now six squads vying for those top two spots at region. Let the post-season begin!
Watch out for CNU and RHODES to give EMORY a run. RHODES beat WL in Ohio, CNU's 1-5 spread is unmatched in the Region. EMORY's #1 should win individually. Noel from RHODES will be there as well. TRINITY is the next sleeper in the mix. Beat BC at Oshkosh. 1-3 is EMORY, RHODES, and CNU to sort out. 4-6 is TRINITY, WL, BC to fight for.
Update: W&L narrowly defeats Bridgewater by a 2 point margin for ODAC Championship.. Ian Macdonald was 2nd Mac Strehler 7th. Bridgewater's two top runners in Gison and Hiegel crossed the line together for a 3,4th finish..
Final S/SE rankings: I'm going a bit out on a limb but it's not a surprising pick for me after seeing the last few weeks of races.. I'm selecting CNU to take the S/SE Region..
1. CNU
2. Emory
3. Trinity
4. Rhodes
5. W&L
I think toney is still the favorite to win the SSE region. I was at the race, and he pulled away from McDonald with ease at the end.
Emory will put 2-3 in before CNU's #1 at Regionals. I see Trinity and Rhodes as the team to beat to beat at #2. CNU will be #4, again...Then WL, BC, Lynchburg, Mary Washington, Berry, Roanoke. Toney, Mees, and kid from Centre will battle for the individual win.
Emory women will wreck the Region if we want to talk about that race. A lot of teams in the mix for #2.
