Is there a spreadsheet template anyone is aware of to create a training schedule?
Most of the schedules I see primarily track mileage. What I would like to do is create a list of progressively harder tempos, tempo intervals, and long runs. Although the schedule would show a progression, I'd like to be able to pick and choose the actual workouts from these master lists, making the choices based on how I feel, injuries, and my success with the previous workout. For example, if I DNF a workout because the pace was too hard, I'd repeat that workout the following week, perhaps at a slightly slower pace, before moving on.
Anyway, I now have a spreadsheet with a column for planned workouts and several more columns for the actual workout done with times for intervals and so on. The master list of progressively harder workouts would be a separate worksheet.
I haven't seen anything remotely like this online, and I don't really care to put it online. I'd like to have it in a spreadsheet to assist in calculating future paces based on the most recent race and so on.
Here's an example of an entry so you can see what I'm talking about.
Tues Pick One: Goal Pace Intervals
14x400 @ goal 10K pace (200 recovery)... or...
8x800 @ goal 10k pace (400 recovery), or...
5-6x1mile @ goal 10k pace (5min recovery)
Tues Actual:
14x400(200) 1:44 1:38 1:42 1:42 1:43 [list rest of times] Ave: 1:43
Thursday Pick One: Tempo Workout
3x10min
2x2miles 2x1mile
25minutes
Thurs Actual:
2x2miles 2x1mile 14:44 14:58 7:22 6:58
Don't critique the workouts. I just pulled them out of the air. I'm interested in a way to track all this. I tried something like this last year on a spreadsheet. It worked, but it seemed pretty cumbersome at times.
Anyone have any suggestions?
