Ok...And in looking at her what am I supposed to see? Because all I see is a super-fit 26 year old who has developed nicely over the past decade. Clearly she takes her career very seriously and takes good care of herself and her performances are reflecting that. Tell me, what am I missing?
agree there. Red flag!
Secret to Ucenny's success: her teammates and training partners.
Bad bathing habits?
Funny how no one ever mentions the coaching program! Training partners and a poor program still means mediocrity - just look at most College programs. Most still live in the dinosaur age and haven't a clue how to even use modern technological devices to help coach and athlete find out what might work for them. Good training partners aren't going to help if they themselves don't know what they are doing either.
I don't understand the people who say she has followed a normal progression. I don't know if she's clean, maybe she is, but you normally you don't go from "I've never heard of you" to being number one in the world that quickly.
Tell that to Molly, KD, Scotty, Amy, Angie, Leonel, Jeshua, ...

And, of course, if YOU hadn't heard of her, she probably did not exist.
Fair enough. I've been feeling rather cynical about doping recently.

Why?

Given the sport's history, I understand sentiments like yours and have even heard them from ex-Cornell track team members.
I just find it disappointing that so many people have done zero research on Uceny. She didn't come out nowhere.
Have you done any research at all on her career development?
She was a state champion in HS who after a terrible freshmen year ran the following times at Cornell:
2005 2:06.26
2006 2:04.32
2007 2:01.75
She then proceeded to the following as a pro:
2008 2:00.01
2009 2:00.06
2010 1:58.67
2011 1:58.37
That is pretty standard textbook progression. It would be hard to come up with more consistent, gradual progression than that.
And to think she was in the "wrong" event the entire time.
So that gives us too options.
She's either clean.
Or she got on drugs going into her sophomore year of college. But even then your argument doesn't seem valid as if that was the case and she started doping that early, did she got on even better drugs since then?
Her progression makes me a little suspicious as well, but that doesn't mean she's doped, and now that she's ranked so highly, she'll be tested much more often, so if she is doped up, there is a much higher probability that it will be revealed, and if she isn't doped up, there's a much higher probability that the running community will have some proof of that as well.
To all the doubters, I'm just kind of curious as to if you've really thought out your accusations or have any basis besides, 'I didn't know much about her before the last year or two, and now she's winning DL race.' I don't know whether she's clean or not, but I never even thought about she might be dirty until all these people started posting that out of nowhere.
If you think she's doping, who is she working with? What is she taking? Do you think Mahon or the MTC as a whole is dirty... or at least a number of the athletes in that program? Is her doping a recent development (i.e. since turning pro sometime), or has she been doing it since college?
It's one thing to throw accusations around with athletes with suspicious progressions or racing habits when those athletes are from other countries where we really know very little about their environment. But here, we've seen this girl progress since college, know a lot about who coaches her, who she trains with, etc. So again, if you think she's doping, so you have any thoughts on the subject besides 'she's doing well now' or 'she looks like she's doping'?
She hasn't run under 4:03 this year. What's so shocking?
Isn't clean? Did she just run through the mud?
Anyways, sure, she looks ripped now, but she always been ripped throughout her pro career. I imagine people will say she started doping in 2008 when her 1500 time dropped from 4:17 to 4:06. That seems logical. But I read somewhere she ran the 1500 like 3 times before 2008, and they all were in tactical type races. She tries a new event, and finds out she's a balla. Sounds pretty logical to me.
Whatever. I'll cheer on any successful American until somebody gives me some evidence they are doping. Except Pharmalita. I don't believe somebody starts setting .3/.4 second prs in the tail end of their career.
M'an Juiceny is pretty ripped for a girl.
These people are delusional, she is so on the juice. Her manly facial features are progressing by the year.
Just enjoy the show. If she is using, she's not anymore dirty than anyone else at the top. If she's not dirty, how much faster do you think she'd run if she was on? Sub 1:55?

I think the exact opposite. Assume a 13:05 5000 guy improves to 12:55 on drugs. Is a 13:05 Kenyan going to take drugs? He can't afford it, an agent isn't likely to make that risky investment, and he can make a great living for Kenya running 13:05. Is a 13:05 American 5000 going to take drugs? He probably can afford it, if he runs 12:55 he will get a disproportionately large contract, if he stays at 13:05, he makes so little that he may as well get a job.
Marion Jones could have almost made the 100 trials finals as an eighth grader. When did she start doping?
