Here's the weekly roundup:
Weekend Roundup:
The Conference Champs weekend opened on Friday with Brigham Young sweeping the top six individual spots at the Mountain West champs behind redshirt frosh Kassi Anderson's win. On the other side of the country, Notre Dame's 1-2 finish by Lauren King and Molly Huddle led the Irish to a razor-thin 1-point win over Georgetown (69-70) at Big Easts, while Villanova also edged Providence by a single point for 3rd (88-89) with Boston College claiming 5th. Columbia placed 5 in the top 10 to win their first ever HEPs title ahead of Yale, Cornell, and Princeton.
Stanford easily took the PAC-10 title ahead of Arizona State and Washington. Wake Forest tied perennial ACC champ NC State for the title, giving the Deacons a share of their first ever conference championship, while Virginia edged Duke for third and UNC claimed 5th well ahead of Florida State; UNC's Shalane Flanagan confirmed her status as the individual favorite for the NCAA crown by easily downing Florida State's Vicky Gill at ACCs in the weekend's most eagerly anticipated individual matchup. Colorado was the runaway winner of the Big 12 meet, while Missouri edged Texas for runner-up honors. Toledo ran their top 5 for the first time and downed Ball State and Miami for the MAC title. James Madison upset William & Mary at the Colonial Champs, while Boston University held off upstart Stony Brook to retain the American East crown. Northern Arizona was the run-away winner of the Big Sky meet, while Marquette and Idaho won the Conference USA and Big West respectively. Coastal Carolina, Rice, SW Missouri, Butler, LaSalle, Arkansas-Little Rock, and Appalachian State all won their respective conference championships.
Michigan surprised many to win the Big Ten meet over Michigan State, Indiana, Penn State, and Wisconsin. Arkansas closed off the weekend action with a win at SECs, while Kentucky upset Tennessee for runner-up honors.
