I just don't understand this. Props to Solinsky for going to Paris and running the 3000, but why do the top American runners never enter the hot races at their main distance? Bekele and the other East Africans are often competing in 5000s and 10000s against the world's best but our best runners have almost no experience in really fast distance races.
I understand the thought process behind doing some over and under distance races, but come on, you guys need to mix it up at your best distance every once in a while.
And to Teg and Solinsky, I know you read these boards sometimes...quit trying to make up ground on the lead pack in the last 1000 of every race. Stick your nose in the race from the beginning and put the hurt on the other guys in the last 1000 instead of just playing catch up. I don't even have to guess what you're going to do when I see you race against the world's best. You will sit 20-30 meters behind, start a charge to catch up late in the race, and then just follow the guys in to the finish line while hoping you can pass someone who fades on the homestretch.
