Hey all,
I've had some peroneal tendonitis in the recent past. After a nice PT session of a month and a half, the pain in the lower ankle is gone. When I tried running, however, I noted there is some pain in the peroneal muscle, specifically when my foot initially strikes the ground.
I ran in the DS trainers and had no pain. I ran in the Cumulus and recently tried the Brooks Glycerine (both are neutral shoes) and had this pain shoot up. I ran in the DS trainers and there was some slight pain, but it was not as noticeable.
I have some pronation problems in that I believe I need some support in the arch area, but I don't think I need a lot. Does anyone here have any experiences similar to mine, or is anyone able to recommend a model shoe to try out? I was told by another runner to try out the Asics Landreth (spelling??) model.
I think I need something for the initial heel impact so that my peroneus muscle there takes less of an impact. To give a body description, I run somewhat bow-legged, the knees turn in somewhat. The salesman who initially fitted me for the neutral shoes said he was concerned that too much support would force me to put too much emphasis on the outer portion of my foot, which would hurt my knees after long-term running.
So, any suggestions?? Anyone know if this is something that might not be a shoe thing at all? I'm aware of the "calf heart attack" issues and have read the articles. This isn't that.
Thank you all VERY MUCH!! It is greatly appreciated.
