There is no definite break-no mileage, no times to meet. The 100 mile wk rule that someone mentioned is pretty stupid

That's because Thoner mentioned it.
You're funny! I'm a girl. An elite adult. Again, it must really suck to get beat by all those joggers.
good answer. i must ask, though: why the quotation marks around the word internet?
Thoner,
One easy way to verify your pedigree to the doubters. Post your real name. Any doubters will quickly be silenced by going to
. He may not have ALL of your PR's, but he will have some. This is an easy way to resolve many of the "I'm quicker than you are" disputes on this board.

This entire thread boggles my mind. Why does this matter to everyone? If you roam this message board several times a day looking for insights to improve your training, if you eat, sleep, and breath running...then you're a runner. There, feel better? Who cares what it's called. Go get some.

My answer had a great answer.A runna to me is someone who is competing against another runna,himself or a stopwatch.A jogga is someone who is doing the running on more of a recreational level.I think the key differential is the word compete,regardless of how fast.
There has been far too much discussion on this. The very first answer was correct: a runner trains to get faster; a jogger trains for fitness. End of story.
I wonder how many posts have been something like...
Can't believe this is still going on... followed by their assessment of the "correct" criteria. Just thought it was funny.
.....JEH that really is funny. It is almost like they have been forced against their will to keep reading every post, eben though they knew they should have "stopped" with the first "correct" post.

I am not the fastest on this board, however there are only a few who are faster. It is a no win situation for any of us really to post our times. If you post any fast time, it will be called a lie by others on this board (see other threads). Even if you post the truth, lots of others will post bogus times just to be faster than yours. I know what they are and that is all that matters to me.........and no, just like the rest of you, I will not post my true identity on an "internet" board in cyberspace for obvious reasons.
Thoner,
Why is it a no win situation to post your PR's? How can someone call your PR's a lie if they can be verified?
As long as you don't claim to be fast and slam others, it doesn't matter how fast you are. But if you remain anonymous, slam others, claim to be fast, and don't post PR's, you should expect criticism.
What are the obvious reasons for not using your real identity? Phipps is my real (last) name - it's not too common. There are probably a dozen or so people who post here who know me personally, to everyone else, I may as well be anonymous. I'm not nearly fast enough to be recognized by anyone outside of the area where I live, so who really cares?
Chris Phipps
Fastest Phipps in the world at all distances from 800M through 50K (as far as I know).
Anyone who doesn't run in the rain is a jogger.
Jogging - To run or ride at a steady slow trot;
To go or travel at a slow or leisurely pace;
To proceed in a leisurely manner.
Running - One who, or that which, runs; a racer; a trained
athlete who competes in foot races
So there you go...but if you run slow then you are a jogger unless you are training for a race....
Can everyone live with this????
Sometimes I run, sometimes I jog. Others times I eat and sleep and I even read a book once. Ain't life grand?
No, what is the definition of "slow"?
And can you be a runner if you don't enter footraces?
I think all of you are joggers. A jogger is someone who wants others to validate their own existence as a "runner". If you question your worth, you clearly aren't worth much.
I've run a 31:58 10K on the roads...can you beat that fastest Phipps?
