Is the guy running besides him Scott Jeurek?
Is the guy running besides him Scott Jeurek?
you are right. it's akin to the indoor soccer trend that set back US soccer for 20 years. granted, it enables people to make a living, like some have mentioned, but then the casual fan believes that is the sport, that is the action or incredible feats we need to see, or it's boring. dean is helping himself, and maybe motivating some yuppies, but no one is even talking about our national chamionships on any of the stations, including espn2, where is saw dean is a guest on some new show after mike and mike tomorrow. tough to earn a living for the athletes competing this weekend, save the elite-sponsored few.
he disappeared again
He's only on 152.016 mile pace through the first 15 hours. I think he's cooked, and should pull up with a bum hamstring or something.
Look, Toots, just because you're dense doesn't mean that I'm arrogant or on a high horse - It just sounds that way to you.
Discussing this with you is a waste of time because you evidently did not read what I wrote and then proceeded onto a slew of other things I did not comment on. For example, you've tried to portray me as someone that dislikes charity. Would it shock you that I ran pretty far for charity's sake one time? The difference, unlike with Deano, was that the charity was the sole beneficiary. Further, it was about trying to get the charity noticed and not ME ME ME. Ultra guys can't stand this guy.
Again, whether or not YOU believe Dean is the greatest does NOTHING about the lie he perpetuates. Does it make it ok if you are smart enough not to get duped by it? That seems to me what you're saying.
Also, is your world a vacuum where it is either this or that and not a combination of both? Hell yes, USATF sucks and should do their job. NO ARGUEMENT HERE. But, how does it work within your mind so that since USATF sucks, the what Deano does must be OK? Great logic there, Hon.
It's not that big a deal, but I wish some of you people would strive for what's good instead of just dismissing or even applauding the bad because - well, there's worse out there. Then again, this is LR where common sense and reason is scarce while the half-brained and emotional run amok.
If he somehow gets the record, it shouldn't count. He's holding the rails on the side of the treadmill occasionally, which is against the rules.
But whether he succeeds or not, I'm boycotting Accelerade.
He looks cooked. What is that blue thing in the background and who is that lady running across from him?

Now let's get back to the action until the 10k tonight. I'm actually looking forward to the letsrun.com play by play tonight...[/quote
speaking of which, does the letsrun coverage at 8 o'clock mean it starts at 8 central time?
Wow, the women's 24 hour treadmill record is within a third of a mile of the men's treadmill record (153.60 miles vs 153.90 miles)
he's not going to do it - at even pace 153.76 x 2/3 = 102.5
so at 8 hours to go he has to be at that distance, but he's bound to slow down even further. At his current pace he will hit just under 101 - time to go home Deano.
I agree. He's slowed markedly over the last 2 hours. He's behind pace and slipping. I have no experience with ultras, but I imagine they're races of attrition, not races where you save one last surge until the last couple of hours. If you're not ahead of pace nearly the entire time, I'd say you're cooked.
My HR is under 39bpm, why can't I be America's best runner?
Prediction: He misses the 24 hour record, runs for an extra hour and peoclaims himself the 25 hour world record holder.
He will break the record easily. My guess is that with 2hr's to go he boosts it up to like an 8:45 mile and beats the record by a mile.

I can definitely see that happening lol
Another Prediction:
"There's a valid explanation as to why I didn't break the record." -Dean in about 8 1/2 hours
I just went to visit the Karno-vore, one thing is that its hot as balls out there. He's got the entire Nasdaq screen as well as the ones on the Reuters building, an amazing amount of publicity!
Can somebody please pass the f***ing haterade?
Want to know why you aren't being proclaimed America's best runner? Because nobody gives a shit about you or your 39 bpm heart rate.
i kinda like running wrote:
I would break your finger if you poked me in the chest while telling me.
No you wouldn't, pussy.
I don't think he will even beat his PR: 147.96 miles.
Holy F****ing Sh**. Employee 1.1 just broke 15:00 for 5000 for the 1st time at age 36.
