RIP Barbaro

That was an ignorant response, maybe YOU should have been euthanized.

It's not a stretch to think of Barbaro of being a champion in every sense of the word. Given the fact that this is a sport-related web site, I think it is appropriate to feel sadness about Barbaro's loss without having some bored imbeciles roll up their sleeves and be jerks.

and for sure, Mtn Dew, if your favorite Power Ranger passed away, I'm sure you wouldn't want people laughing over your grief.

i thought the title of the thread was "RIP barbaro." what i said was completely on topic. your apologetic and sympathetic responses are far from it.

Barbaro's life came to a very sad but dignified end today.

For you to find some perverted joy out of that, enough to be hitting REFRESH every ten seconds to see who can rebut your immature take on the matter, that doesn't say a whole lot about you, kiddo. Someday you, too, will grow up.

I think it was stupid that the owners spent so much money on an animal that likely wasn't going to recover. I'd be kicking myself if I were them for not putting the horse down right after the race.

If Barbaro had lived the owners would have made a KILLING putting that dumb animal out to stud. They lost money trying to save him, but if they did that to 10 animals and one lived they'd recover their money and then some.

Yes, but what were the chances that the horse was going to live or even be healthy enough to be a stud? Not good. Not a good investment. Too risky. Didn't pay off.

Barbaro was a truly majestic beast. I was at the preakness last year; my father collapsed at the padock. Barbaro the perforemed open heart surgery with only a screw driver and horseshoe. It's sad to see such a wonderful person leave us so soon.

You must be really smart. If you knew anything about the sport, you'd know that these horses are specifically bred to do one thing---run. They are not the same as the little ponies you see at a petting zoo or a horse that some cowboy rides around on. He may not "train" on his own, but he sure as hell wouldn't be content staying in his stall. I'm pretty sure that his owners had that in mind when they made the decision to euthanize him. If you want to play ball, do some research first, junior.

It is very sad that the poor horse had to be put down, but anyone who thinks the horse was an athletic champion is a little crazy in my book.

That animal was made to run around a track, it did not have a choice. I assure you that he would have been happier meandering through an open prairie.

The fact that our media makes a bigger deal over this horse being euthanized than the troops being killed in Iraq is ridiculous in the least.

Gain some perspective.

All the same, it is not funny that the horse died, in the same way it is not funny when any beautiful animal is killed.

Barbaro was a beautiful animal, but the personification on this thread is almost embarrassing.
