According to several prediction calculators, a 19min 5k runner can easily run a sub 1:30 half marathon. The pace for a 1:30 marathon is something like 6:55/mile. For the last few weeks, all I have been thinking about is the race coming up on Jan. 27. I've been training on and off since November, but the soccer games I play each weekend takes time away from running...i.e. training, injuries, etc. However, soccer is over and I have been training for 3 weeks now. My weekly mileage has been 30, 35, and 40. I have not done any track work at all. Well, except 8-10 100meter strides 3-4 times a week. I did a 1.5 time trial yesterday in 8:38(big confidence booster) and today I did 8.25 in one hour flat...7:16/mile.
All im asking is what I should probably do for the next 27 days of training. I want to hit 45-50 next week and maybe hold for one more week. Then I do 40 and then the final week just take it easy...maybe 20-25(not counting the half marathon).
Im pretty sure I can break 1:30, but im afraid of going out too fast. Any suggestions... i.e. workouts, mileage, etc?
