Predictions? Looking insanely stacked, great NorCal comp, even some jserra girls. DMR for girls should be exciting, hopefully meet record.
The problem with the DMR at Stanford is that it's less than 90 minutes after the 3200. So if you are trying to do both you are going to be cooked. You don't really know who's on those DMR teams.
That should only affect Whitney, no other school has more than one runner. St Francis MV should be good, crystal, carlmont, Davis
Not sure where you are getting that. Several girls' teams has someone in the 3200 and the DMR. Palo Alto, Branham, St. Francis MV has two, St. Francis SJ, Woodcreek, Whitney has two, Redwood had two, Gunn, Foothill, Scotts Valley, and Davis.

Don't care.
Jane Hedengren is entered in the 10000 against Pamela Kosgei. Habtom Samuel in the 10000. BYU, Washington, Oregon, Washington State, New Mexico in the mix. Hell, even Joe Waskom is entered in the steeple.

Jane is entered in both the 5000 and 10000. One will have to be scratched.
Not necessarily.
5000 Invite @ 8:10 pm to nab a West Regional top-48 time.
Either 10,000 Invite @ 8:53pm or 10,000 "B" heat @ 10:05 pm as a rabbit.
I guess I should have specified. To run both for real she would need to scratch one being 43 minutes apart. I don't think that starting a 10K 28 minutes after finishing an all out 5K would be too smart.

No, it would not.
But, come on! Jane could run a 5000 in high heels and still get her regional Q.
Jane's "all out" effort will be at Bryan Clay a couple weeks later -- where she ran her 14:57 pr last year. Stanford Invite will be a tempo run with a workout-within-a-10,000-race later.
Then there is no reason to run the 5k at Stanford. Just get a 10k time and run her hard 5k later. She doesn't need a jogging 5k time if she's gonna run it again later for real.
Jane is entered in both the 5000 and 10000. One will have to be scratched.
Chances are Hed will run 10000 with Kosgei at Stanford, then 5000 at Bryan Clay, hopefully with pros and a healthy Doris. 2026 Bryan Clay was added to the WA Continental Tour, so global ranking points are available.

Right now Jane is definitely planning on running the 5k at Bryan Clay. So running an easy 5k at Stanford to qualify for regionals doesn't make sense because she'll qualify in the 5k at Bryan Clay for regionals.
But running a hard 5k at Bryan Clay only 2 weeks after a hard 10k at Stanford would be unusual.
Maybe Diljeet will change her mind and have Jane run a hard 5k at Stanford instead, and then run a 10k two weeks later at Bryan Clay.

This is the call if she hopes to qualify for the 5000m DL Final or Ultimate Championship in Sept. To do either, she will probably need all the ranking points she can pile up from April through Aug.

She has no possibility of qualifying for the DL Final. It is not based on Ranking Points; it is based on 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 scoring in DL races ONLY. She would need to place fairly high in several DL meets to have a chance to qualify and she will be busy with collegiate track and cross country preparation. Just getting into DL meets is not easy and is mostly based on World Ranking. Part of the problem is Placing Points. Even winning the NCAA Outdoor championship ("B"-level meet) is only worth 70 points, equivalent to 8th in a DL meet. The only DL meet I can see her getting into is the Prefontaine Meet if she wants to run it.
As for the Ultimate Championship, they are only taking 12 for the 5000m and Beatrice Chebet already locked one spot so 11 are up for grabs. Again, Placing Points are the real decider. Winning an NCAA title? 70 points. The points from last summer's World Outdoor Meet - 260, 230, 210, 190, 175, 160, 150, 140, 91, 84, 77, 70. Points from World Indoors and World Cross - 140, 120, 110, 100, 90, 80, 75, 70. Even Area Championships are worth 120, 105, 95, 85, 75, 70. These points are being gobbled up by the likes of Battocletti, Kipyegon, Tsegay, Houlihan, Nuttall, Garcia, Andrews, Mackay, Hull, Hall, Baweke, etc., runners who will be all over the DL meets this summer. The points from World Outdoor alone are almost enough to get into the top-12 in rankings. For example, Houlihan is currently #4 on the list for Ultimate; two of her three qualifying performances are from Tokyo. Her 4th in the final alone is worth 1323 points. Another example - Hurta-Klecker accumulated so many points at World Outdoor that even if she runs like absolute crap all of 2026, it is unlikely that she will fall out of the top-16 for the 800m. She basically clinched her Ultimate spot last September in the span of a few days.

It does make sense.
Stanford Invite appears to be just a workout weekend for Jane: a 5000 tempo to get the regional Q plus some additional work pacing a 10,000.
Where the Q becomes important is if an injury or illness sidelines Jane for Bryan Clay and Big 12s. If healthy for West Regionals, she then would still be able to compete.
What would be unusual? For Diljeet to ram a 10,000 down Jane's throat at this point in her young career. After reducing Jane's mileage from around 60/week in hs to around 50/week now, that doesn't square. Jenna Hutchins didn't run the 10,000 her frosh year back in 2023; she's now the BYU SR holder. Expect Jane to follow suit.
And, running USAs in July then continuing thru the summer on the DL circuit to try to qualify for the Ultimate meet in mid-September? Come on.
Jane didn't race USAs last summer despite being one of the top 5000 entrants. She didn't race USA XC Champs this fall despite clearly being capable of finishing ahead of Grace Hartman who finished 6th and made the team.
Never speak in absolutes when discussing the future, but my crystal ball says Jane shuts it down after NCAAs to recover and prepare for an epic race against Doris come NCAA XC Champs in November.

You are correct, madam/sir.
Jane scratched from the 5000, now only in the 10,000 so her race w/Kosgei is on.
