Who's saying most of them are college aged? Didn't LSU run something about age being just a number for some 30 year old kenyan? BYU does better than other schools at competing with them because they also have lots of non-college age runners

Can you help to explain the difference in XC compared to other NCAA sports? International students in basketball are everywhere. Don't hear that complaint.

Because international athletes are competing that automatically means they're doping?

Or could it be that one is afraid of a bit of competition, and instead need to find a fact-less conclusion such as doping?

The NCAA has evolved. I suggest you evolve beyond your closed-minded approach that is subtly racist.

I read that and draw almost the exact opposite conclusion. Clean overage Kenyans are beating up on clean college aged Americans in the NCAA. The only ones that are clearly doping are the American pro runners.

The influx of internationals is a problem in all sports, and is going to get a lot worse in TRACK now that men's teams JUST increased from 12.6 scholarships to 45 scholarships. The vast majority of those additional scholarships are going to end up with international people.

Nobody honestly believes more Americans are going to buy ESPN+ or Flotrack subscriptions to watch the top 5 Americans struggle against 25-30 year old Kenyans that are doping.

High school track meets have more fans in attendance than college meets because fans are actually invested in the athletes.

It is a fact Kenya has the most athletes currently serving drug suspensions.

But surely they would only send the clean athletes overseas to America, right? Especially since the NCAA has basically no real drug testing protocol.

It’s never mentiones that the universities get tax breaks for recruiting the foreign athletes - if they are anything but white. More non-whites equals more tax breaks and more govt funds. This is rampant discrimination as well.

Are you able to explain how this works in the context of universities being tax exempt?

Without jumping onboard with the doping narratives, I will say that it would make sense that the NCAA XC product as we know it today could be hurting fan turnout for the following reasons:

1) It does seem apparent that there are more roster spots going to East Africans than ever. (We should really just say foreigners). I doubt that their friends and family will turn up to cheer at Nuttycombe after a 20+ hr flight over the Atlantic.

2) Most coaches are recruiting out of the transfer portal, their standards are unrealistic, and more and more American HS kids are feeling snubbed. If you've been in this sport since 20+ yrs ago, you know that the people that actually show up to NCAA Cross Country meets are the other non-top 7 rest of the guys on the team, friends, and family from the local region.

Without them, who is showing up?

No ones talking about it, but BYU isnt an overaged school anymore.

Davin Thompson, Noah Jenkins, and Isaac Hedengren haven't served missions, they are normal college ages.

When Isaac Hedengren is healthy, thats arguably 4 of their top 5. And a 5th would be James Corrigan who isn't very old either, although he has served a mission but also went to the Olympics at 22 years old.

And of course none of the women have served missions and they are dominant.

BYU is good, no kenyans or age cheating required.

Fans are definitely more invested in high school track than college but a lot of that is because the athletes are their friends, their kids, and friends of their kids. I doubt I've ever been to a high school meet where any significant number of spectators didn't have some personal connection to at least a few of the competitors.

And high school meets actually mean something, scores are kept, league standings are kept. Most college races either don't keep score at all or have so many teams running that except for the few in the top places placing doesn't matter that much at least to fans.

Just because you repeat something over and over doesn’t make it true. Their average age on their competing 7 is typically no different than any of the other top teams. Mind you, this was prior to the NIL and new trend. When a team has three 25 year old freshman, it certainly changes the playing field.

Stop with all these sour grapes. If the Kenyans are doping then it means there is no testing in America and this is an indictment of America not Kenya.
And where would these Kenyans be finding their supply of dope ? Are they importing from Kenya ?
