Without any warning or announcement London Marathon have changed the qualifying time for the men’s Championship Entry from sub 2:40 to sub 2:38 for next years race. Also from 2026 it will be capped at 500 male and 500 females with the fastest being put in the championship start and the remainder dropping to the Good For Age start (thus raising the standard for that entry!).
I’m not surprised the times were reduced but to do it so late is a bit poor. Got to feel for those that had run the time and haven’t got an Autumn marathon lined up to hit the new standard.
