I’m a little over 5 weeks from a sacral stress fracture this winter. I haven’t tried running yet but I’ve been walking pain-free for about 3 weeks, sometimes 3-4 miles. I have no pain putting on pants and no pain hopping on one foot or running across the street (and all of this has been true for 3 weeks).
My doctor is still insisting on 10-12 weeks off, but I really feel like I can start doing some lifting and maybe treadmill hill running. Any thoughts on the usual timeline? I’ve found some stories on here of longer timelines, but those usually involve people still having lingering pain. My doctor also mentioned that bone density is at its lowest 12 weeks after an injury, but it sounds like that might because of the decreased impact from rest. Seeing as my bone density is not doing great, Im hoping to get started on a plan to get it back ASAP…
