In this interview with LetsRun (still can't include hyperlinks???) about the Olympic Trials, Conner COMPLAINS about Robert Brandt not sharing the lead. https://www.letsrun.com/news/2021/09/qa-ncaa-xc-champ-conner-mantz-on-why...
Y'all need to go to the school of "two things can be true at once". Maybe CM could have fought back harder? But that doesnt mean you side with the chump who pushed him because he was getting passed very quickly. BTW, if you have ever run with a rail, or a fence in this case, you know that its easier for the guy on the outside to hide a push or take away space. As the guy running into the fence, Mantz has to very obviously extend his arm to fight him off which is I believe more likely to draw a DQ.
Lets all decide whether we want to keep siding with the cheats? Its seems 33% of the posts on these threads defend the cheats. So....we are guessing you are one them?

Not everyone sees this race as having a “cheat”.
I wouldn’t say it was “cheating.” It was a spur of the moment situation, but I believe it still warranted a DQ or relegate the winner to second place. He was clearly using his arm to try to impede Mantz. Whatever, Mantz has probably already moved on.

I know this isn't always the rule, but a DQ or changing the place of someone should really only happen if the violation actually affected the result. Mantz can say whatever he wants but he was in fine position after the push. He got beat by 2 seconds in the last 400 or so. Momentum, shmomentum, Yihune also was involved in that tussle and he seemed to still have the capability of finishing strong.

Not really what I see. There is minimal contact, but they are coming wider around the fence with Yihuse crowding Mantz toward it. Then he flagrantly tries to impede Mantz as Mantz is getting a step on him. Mantz also said on his Strava that the first time he was cut off was at 6 miles. We don’t have video so have to trust this actually happened initially.
It doesn’t matter now. What matters is next time Mantz knows to push his competitor hard. Just unavoidable, right?
There is nothing “flagrant” at any point in the video we have. Ffs.
Mantz was counting on the guy yielding and giving him space for the inside pass. Guy held the line and Mantz forced the issue instead of going wide. It didn't work out for him...
Or when Mary Decker knew she was going to lose and dove onto the infield. I you know your opponent has more left than you do, you can look for an opportunity like this to use as an excuse.
MMM, no. That was actually not her first race. She lost before and didnt dive to the ground.
That was certainly not Decker's first race. She'd been racing for years. Definitely hadn't won every race she'd started. I don't know where you disagree with the quoted post, but you started with 'MMM, no'.
Anyway, I watched it just now as I'd sort of forgotten about it and hadn't seen it any time recently. She either accidentally or intentionally - I don't know which - gets her feet tangled with Budd, then tries to grab Budd on the way down as she 'dove onto the infield' . It was arms and head first; 'dove' would be a very accurate description. She landed not on the track but on 'the infield'. That is very clear. I'm not sure how else you would describe the incident in question.
This was a little different from Mantz's situation or Chelimo going 4 lanes out or many other controversial moves in that there was clear contact. Decker actually touched Budd. Literally, physically, touched. Initiated by Decker, who then flopped. I'm not sure what you missed.
Mantz needs to toughen the firetruck up and push back. Hold your position. You do not need to yield to someone who is cutting in on you, especially when they are right on your shoulder. Hopefully Mantz will learn from this and will respond accordingly the next time it happens.
