9 days ago I slipped on the stairs while drunk and experienced a brutal sharp pain in my right foot. It hurt bigtime to walk for the rest of the night. The next day I went to ortho urgent care (they only deal with sprains, broken bones, etc. not fevers and runny noses) and got it xrayed and examined by a doc. Fortunately no broken bones so diagnosed as a ligament strain. 9 days later, I still feel a 2/10 pain when walking on that foot, maybe 2.5/10 barefoot on hard surfaces, so am holding off from running.
I have an October marathon, the weather is beautiful, and I just gained like 3lbs from no running plus a business trip that involved excess amounts of greasy food and beer.
I'm dying to get back running, even just 2-3 miles/day. I have a follow up call with the doctor on Friday, but am wondering what other peoples' experiences have been with recovery. The doctor originally said 4-6 weeks for 100% recovery but I could run sooner if I feel zero pain.
Just venting a bit - sorry guys.
