ACC Championship results:

Indoor: men 7th/women 10th

Outdoor: men 12th/women 11th

Two things: My hunch is that Chris Miltenberg will be named as UNC head coach, and then the feeding fenzy will start about Stanford head job.

I have also served on many search committees. And many of them were only interviewing women. that is the way it goes and anyone who doesn't think so really doesn't understand. Whether it is appropriate or not is irrelevant. We certainly need more women who want to be head coaches. Good luck to them.

It's true that women are a priority nowadays in the coaching world. But in her defense, she had the experience to back it up. Plus its Chattman it's a revolving door... she's going to get the head experience she needs and leave in a couple of years.

My assumption in seeing this was that she must be a below average coach and suck at interviewing if this is all that she could get with a couple years experience. Typically a woman of her experience would already be making $75k as a stopwatch holder at a Power 5 school.

It's a lot closer to New York. He's from the east coast.

Why would Stanford have posted the women's distance job if Milt were leaving?

Well they were 2nd at 2018 ACC outdoor - losing by only 8 points. Did not dig back further than that. You are correct that this year's results were not as good but you could say the same about xc. New coach.

Cost of living is reason enough. Money goes a lot further in North Carolina than it does in the Bay Area.

Can you give an example of who all these stopwatch holders for $75k are at? I can think of one or two women in that position, but multiple men. It's rarely a matter of them not being good, but them being green; so they are humble enough to want to learn and the head coach wants someone to help with their event group but not give over the coaching reigns.

It's a fact that in many situations women have an advantage in getting hired in this profession. Laws of supply and demand. But where AD's really want to be successful in this sport they will hire whomever they think is truly best. The sad thing is that the FAR majority of AD's don't care if their CC-T&F programs are strong because they're judged on FB & BB. This is why we become the dumping ground for things not related to athletic excellence.

Excellent choice.

Jenkins has done a lot more with much less at Western Kentucky for over a decade. He should have been the next head coach in a Power 5 conference. However, the American Athletic is pretty tough in track and football.
