That happened to me with the Pete K. thread. I wanted everyone to know about that documentary, because it was new to me and super cool.

Usually happens because a prior post (somewhere in the 2000-odd) was deleted, and the count needed to exceed the previous maximum to get re-cached on Page 1 (bumped). Or something like that (technical details).

I saw that post as well. Hilariously generic and naff advice, but to be fair, that's pretty much what social media is used for by a lot of fitness people.

STEP 1: Carefully select your favourite from that hour's 6,000 selfies.

STEP 2: Disguise narcissism by dressing it up as a vague, fitness advise post.

STEP 3: Make sure to include some kind of vacuous spiritual reference and several emojis

STEP 4: Post, sit back, and watch the 'likes' from adoring fans come flooding in.

She will be qualified to a level 3 standard I imagine; possibly a level 2 if the gym she is based at is lenient in its employment policy. Unfortunately, although there are many very knowledgeable PT's out there, the bar for qualifying is not set particularly high. There was a guy on my course who genuinely couldn't get his head around the fact that there are vegetarians out there, that don't even eat fish. He passed no problem.

As much as I don't like to slag off the industry I work in, the qualification doesn't always mean that much. It's a bit like how a driving licence doesn't make you a good driver by default; it just ensures you've got the basics and can now go on to get good it it, IF you can be bothered.

Anyway... think I'm just about done shooting myself in the foot. I continue to follow Amy's (and others) posts, because they make me feel good about my own work.

Yes, you are right. You can take 2 years over it, or you can take just 6 weeks to qualify as a PT, but I think you missed my point. It is highly unlikely she isn't fully qualified, because she bases herself at a gym, and that requires a minimum level of certification (usually lv3) to be provided before they employ you to train people, unless they have been highly negligent; which is why I only say "unlikely".

The level of the qualification, or the method used to get the piece of paper doesn't always reflect the quality of the PT, but whatever... I don't think she really see's herself as a PT anyway. I think she see's herself more as a "celebrity" and glamour figure, which is what is so frustrating, as it looks like all these companies that continue to sponsor her and fund this lifestyle don't seem to care about any of the obvious, integrity issues.

I've not trawled through them all however, a quick scan has shown lot's of marathon or greater runs on back-to-back days.

I really don't get how doing xx marathons in xx days is some amazing feat. Without a time limit, is it that difficult? I think any decent runner could do it by walking large sections when needed. The difficult part would be getting time off work and/or being independently wealthy.

Even if you're not an accomplished runner, walking at an avg pace of about 3.1 mph would give you 8.5 hours on your feet a day.

It seems to me any young person (and many older ones) at a healthy weight would be able to accomplish this. Am I missing something?

If I could take two months off of work, I'd consider walking 26 miles a day as a job for 60 days.
