Amkelly: good to see you are progressing and have reached consistent 5 miles per day. I understand your doubts about the doc, but agree with you that exercise-based treatment will unlikely bring any harm. I've had similar concerns recently with a med company that advocates this approach though my case was way way “lighter” (just conventional tendon and muscle issues), but it helped.
My week was just another easy one during the post-race season. No running above LT, just aerobic including elliptical when the weather is bad (and it is). Looking forward for a snowy winter to switch to XC skiing.
Mon: 4 miles easy
Tue: 80’ stationary elliptical trainer
Wed: off
Thu: a.m. – 60’ elliptical, p.m. - 4 miles easy
Fri: off (but 55’ brisk walking)
Sat: 8 miles fartlek (6 km totally at LT- pace)
Sun: a.m. – 8 miles fartlek as on Sat., p.m. - 30’ elliptical
