Odd that 3 of 12 of the distance coaches are turning over mid year in the Sun Belt.
What is up at Georgia State? Was England given the boot, or down graded when they elevated an assistant?
It seems that Coastal and Tx St vacancies are a result of friction with head coach, and not necessarily performance firings.
it's a great environment with a strong overall athletics program and a new AD and college president. The problem is they hired a HS coach a few years back who did absolutely no (zero!) recruiting. There's no reason at all why they can't return to being a strong regional team, and the incoming coach has proven recruiting skills. The new president is a former college athlete and has made athletics a priority. XC will be good again in a couple of years under this new coach; if a track facility happens (AD has said it's a priority) then this would be a prime D3 job again. Yes, it was an embarrassment that the men couldn't field a full team this year. It's no coincidence that the coach "resigned" in October.

Anyway, regarding TxState:
San Marcos sits in a great spot--halfway between SA and Austin, and not far from Houston. Unfortunately, I don't think training is great around the campus. Certainly potential to get to places in the Hill Country, but likely cost prohibitive at a school that size. Also, whomever has been recruiting has completely snubbed the RGV and SA schools--areas with enough quality runners that could have helped the program over the years. A lot of this may be due to the allocation of scholarship money, like most places. Tough to recruit if you can't offer much.

Texas is exactly South! Not sure how this is not obvious it is the state that is directly in the middle of the south! Florida would be SE and Arizona SW. Get it?

This is such a lie. I’ve never seen an AD at the convention. 90% of ADs know nothing about it and would never attend. You think they show up and start asking coaches “hey you want to interview for my coaching opening?” Umm no!

Head coaches interviewing potential assistants genius
He probably saw how bad they are, and how bad they will continue to be and jumped ship! After Jenkins left who would want to work for the guy they hired. He never won at his last school, what would be different? I’m guessing heavy turnover at WKU and the head coach gets fired when the admin actually cares about track and XC.
He made an intelligent move away from a toxic environment.
