Stephanie Jenks also from Iowa. 3rd in dream mile and several time qualifier to NXN and Footlocker. She went to Cal Berkley and disappeared. 2:09-4:40-10 minutes in HS.

I was watching some old Slagowski races earlier today actually. Kid was a monster. Still confused as to what exactly happened to him.

Marlee Starliper is on that path so far; hopefully things turn around from her. Haven't heard anything of what's going on with her at NC State
One word. Injury.

yup, I said it. poor girl is smoked
Dumbest comment ever. Finished as top frosh in NCAA XC, just ran 4:12 1500.

I agree. She is the best high school runner of all time. She is barely off of knee surgery and still finished as the top freshmen. Imagine what she would have done if healthy. Nobody is touching her next year. Mark my words.

What about this one wrote:
This year, Reed Brown (6th at NXN 2016 and sub 4 HS miler) was a distant #7 on his team at the NCAA D1 West Regional. At NCAA Champs, he did not run with Oregon.
I wouldn't say he disappeared, just never improved at the same rate as his peers. He was on the WR DMR team that won natty's this year if I'm not mistaken, so definitely didn't disappear. He's just not in the spotlight like he used to be.
I'll throw John Lewis into the hat. He was a NBN 800 champ, 1:48 guy his senior year and ranked second only to Donovan Brazier that year. You saw him in a few SEC finals, but I think he only managed a 1:47.
I'll second John Lewis.
HS Best 800 - 1:48.72
College Best 800 - 1:47.14
HS Best 400 - 48.34
College Best 400 - 47.81
I know he recently returned to his high school coach. Hope that helps him get back on track now that he is a couple years out of colllege.
Do you guys understand the English language?
Disappear - be lost or go missing; become impossible to find.
Running 1:47 is nothing like disappearing.
katelyn do have a back up plan if she does not go into professional running
shes an engineering student at nc state, she was a valedictorian in hs
she gives her academics just the same importance as running
has been awarded multiple all-academic honors already

Pete Meindl came to mind; ran in high school with my sons. Although, checking his stats now, I see he actually had some impressive successes for a couple years in college:
Peter Meindl, Stanford:
2002 Cross Country Season (Freshman): Was the only freshman to compete for Stanford at the NCAA Championships ... First team All Pac-10 selection ... Had a pair of impressive ninth place finishes at the Pac-10 Championships and Pre-NCAA Meet Blue race.
2003 Cross Country Season: Redshirted.
2003 Track & Field Season: Redshirted ... Finished third in the 5000 meters at the U.S. Junior National Championships ... Competed for Team USA at the Junior Pan Am Games in Barbados and finished fifth in the 5000 meters.
2004 Track & Field Season: Ran personal bests and NCAA indoor provisional qualifying times of 8:01.07 in the 3000 meters and 13:58.49 in the 5000 meters ... Did not compete outdoors ...
High School: A two-time cross country state champion in New York at Orchard Park High School ... Also earned All-American honors as a senior ... Twice a finalist in the Footlocker National Championships, finishing eighth as a senior ... Participated twice in the Junior Nationals.
How good really was Pete? I'm from the area and I remember seeing his name as I was a few years behind him.
I will add Jason DiJoseph to the mix. He was the Kinney XC favorite in 1988 I believe, got 2nd. College was at U of Wisconsin. Injuries and burnout and he walked away from it.

He was the Brooks mile champion, won NXN Midwest XC, top 10 at NXN Nationals, and won multiple other national indoor and outdoor track meets. He ran on a US junior team that ran a XC meet in Scotland.
He was a huge bust in college. Never qualified for the regional meet in track and usually finished at the back in regional NCAA XC meets. He’s basically an average D3 runner now.
