NXN is meant to be a high school national championship, so it should be restricted to high schoolers. it shouldn’t matter if other states allow middle schoolers to compete in high school. high school competition is only high schoolers. people from NY need to accept that they won’t be as good once they play by the same rules as everyone else.
Why should a girl who can run 5K in under 20:00 not be able to compete for her varsity team?
They have to pass a test- you can look it up. It's a selection classification test at the varsity (not JV) level. Part of it is maturity.
Every state should do this.
Plus many schools have an early kindergarten option which makes their 8th grader one year older than the typical 8th grader.
Maybe have races based on erollment for teams that don't have a chance to qualify for the main race...
I don’t think running 3+ classes is reasonable, but what about allowing smaller schools to combine. Would need some rules about schools needing to be close and not being able to swap every year, but getting 4 400 person schools to make 1 2k school might be interesting. Granted a ton of issues like picking a coach and team…

If you go to kindergarten earlier, you're 12 in 8th grade. Younger, not older. Bad logic my guy.
It's a high school competition. It should be high schoolers competing. It's no different than not allowing Simeon and Connor competing for an NCAA title last year. See... they weren't in college. And 8th graders aren't in high school.
What we need is to go back to only having teams at NXN. Getting rid of individual qualifiers frees up 45 spots--so Nike can invite 6-7 more teams without needing a bigger starting line. Also, one of NY's autoslots should become an at-large spot, at least on the boys side. They aren't good enough for two.

Nah, it’s better to combine NY with NE, because you never know if a NY team will emerge in the future. Or allow only one AQ boys team in NY and three in SW because you want every region represented in some way
GET THE NIKE NORTHWEST REGION OUT OF THE S#!T COURSE IT'S ON RIGHT NOW. So many coaches in the northwest dislike the course that it's on right now. Keep it in Boise and keep Ryan as the RD; but there's gotta be another park in Boise.
They at least need to fix the start. The ground is so bumpy and rough I'm afraid every year one of my kids is going to roll their ankle.

It's not. Perfect timing to stay and race at your peak. Don't use excuses. Everyone has one. Also the coaches in Louisiana can vote to have the Louisiana State meet moved to an earlier date.
I have to agree. Florida’s state meet and NXR SE was two days apart 2 years ago. And Belen still crushed NXR.
And this year they have it even worse. NXR and state meet are on the same day

2. Once you take out the middle school athletes, combine the NE and NY into one region. Add 2 teams to the at-large pool.
3. Use sawdust and wood chip on the bad areas of the course to ensure better footing and a better racing experience for the athletes. Lets figure out who has the best team, not the best mudders.
