when bekele decides to become an american he will take kennedys 5k record, as well as the 10k record. when borza decides to become an american he will take the 800m record. lagat has become an american and he will take scotts record. does anyone not see how this is annoying?? the argument made by BA and others on that side is just an acknowledgement of this little annoying part of records and changes in peoples citizenship. this is not a stupid thing to discuss at all and those that think so are missing the point.
No, that's the problem. We're not missing the argument. You, as a US citizen, can gain citizenship in other countries as well and take their recrods too. Except that US athletes typically would not be fast enough to take other countries' records, but still. It wouldn't be a big deal would it, if someone did gain citizenship here and DIDN'T get an AR? As soon as they get the AR, then it's a problem. Either shut up or run faster to not allow this then.
