Jesse Owens was the best in the world at 100m. It makes logical sense that he would be included on the USA's 4x100m relay. The same can not be said for Felix. She is not a top four 100m runner for the USA at this particular time in her great career.

Agreed , however, the members not included thought the timing of the races coupled with his load already made him a poor choice. Personally I think it was a good choice. Tired or not Jesse was boss.

Thanks that angle clearly show the interference and it looks like the Brazilian runner ever had her foot on the line. She should have been aware of her bad positioning.

Something no one ever thinks about: Though Felix was on the world record setting team she really does not have much relay experience when compared to most world class female sprinters.

While at LA Baptist in High School, she pretty much was the entirety of their team, which rarely ran relays at all.

She skipped college track all-together, so she had zero college relay experience.

Her leg on the world record 4x100 was amazing, but she was a completely different level of "fast" that year. With a running start she was as fast as any woman in the world; that is not the case now.

Jenna Prandini, and EVERY OTHER female sprinter available for the US relay pool, have much more relay experience that Felix. When you think about it, it's quite possible that Felix has run under 15 4x100 relay legs in her entire life! When you couple that fact, with the fact that she is not currently one of the US's fasted six women in the 100, it seems a horrible decision to run her at all.

All that being said, I love Felix as an athlete and a person, but the US continues to make poor relay choices. I've been a sprints/hurdles coach at the HS level for 24 years. One thing I know, the 4 fastest kids in the 100 are not always the 4x100, but it is extremely important to have the right parts at the right time. The most inexperienced member of relay team is both taking and giving a hand off on the biggest stage of all, something she has struggled with before, and yet, here we are.

They'll be practicing all afternoon.

My question now is how loud will the stadium be when it is filled with boo's from the Brazilians who have had their 4x100 team DQ'd because of all of this?

You are correct. She was hit by the out going Brazilian Runner which is a DQ. Brazil did not qual. US gets to rerun by themselves tonight and has to beat the last qualifiers time to make the final.

Hopefully, they run their best team with no subs. I would still run Felix with Tianna, Tori, and English although Felix still has to run the 1600mr. Otherwise Washington.

If it was not for Felix's being heads up to finish the race the correct way. they might not have gotten another chance to run

Don't understand why the Brazilian outgoing runner was lined up so close to the inside lane line right next to the US lane!?!

The Brazilian woman entered the lane with her arm and her left foot touched the line too. Definitely impeded Felix. But the reason Felix was running on the outside of the line was because Gardner is the one who screwed up. She should have started from the inside of the lane like she was supposed to - and like every other competitor in the lanes adjacent to her did. Gardner started in the middle of the lane and was moving to the outside of the lane - which forced Felix to move to the outside lane where the contact occurred. If Gardner had done her job this would not have happened.

Godamn "Great Satan" #TeamUSA. NBC Burbank re-instates their own homies who live in L.A., English Gardner and Allyson Felix. It's a sham. Feel bad for Brazil's 4x100.

It looked like Felix got bumped in her own lane, reasonable grounds for appeal.
