This is the slippery slope that you continue to fall down. You take an unsubstantiated claim and use it as a weapon against someone who is not a LR "certified" runner and then claim that you are just doing basic journalism.

I don't believe that a trained journalist would not have understood that it was their basic professional duty to check the veracity of their sources before they pulled a "Rojo."

The LR website offers so many positive things, but this kind of stunt just destroys credibility.

There is another thread on this site that is vigorously debating whether Rupp can run a 26:30's 10k and a 12:40's 5k. I can only imagine the number of derisive posts on this website 5 years ago if such a thing was even suggested. Why don't you support all of our American runners today equally?

If you have any doubt that this is organic, then you should just look at how times have changed in HS and College over the last 5 years. The times by HS underclassman are shocking. I believe this started with guys like Alan Webb, Galen Rupp, German Fernandez, and now so many more.

I can just see the headlines now. News at eleven, Rojo has uncovered a bunch of HS freshman and sophomores after their state meet ... "so can you explain the article in the Anchorage News about kids using skittles to enhance their performance? No seriously kids, I heard someone say something about this once, but I'm not sure where and don't hold me to it".

I really like Let's Run, but I feel they have a personal agenda against Salazar and NOP. It is unfortunate, because I believe Salazar is doing the most inovating coaching. Just running more doesn't cut it.

Indeed, rojo needs to sac up. Cut the passive agressive sh&t stirring and just straight up ask Rupp to make a statement, for the record, on doping. (Obviously a statement that he is against it.) Has Rupp ever done this? It's strange how you never see elites make public statements about doping. They know what is going on better than anyone else...why don't they talk about it?

Now maybe some people would see such a statement as lip service, and it's true that dopers will simply lie about what they are doing. But the point is to create a culture among the ATHLETES where they feel comfortable calling out others who might be doping. They are the ones who can make a change. The public and the media have no idea what is really going on.

Accept in this case, he wasn't working for the IAAF. They paid his way, his article actually went up on Flotrack, but they likely don't even know who paid his way, so that is why I didn't mention their name. My beef is with anyone taking money and not disclosing it. In this case it was Joe. That's why I wrote him about it and not Flotrack and didn't mention Flotrack's name.

So now we're pawns of Nike and USATF? Is that what you are saying? What about my piece on Dennis Mitchell, our extensive coverage on the USATF controversy. Hardly anyone else in the industry is covering those things.

However, for the record Nike has never advertised directly on LetsRun.com. Never. Neither has USATF. The Pre Classic has down some advertising via Runnerspace which runs their website.

As I pointed out above Nike isn't paying me. But if they were secretly paying me for coverage and I didn't disclose it that is a problem. You've helped prove my point.

Your whole argument lacked consistency. You do realize NOP is Nike right? So we'd take Nike money, let that influence our coverage, but still go after NOP? Makes no sense.

Disclosure, disclosure, disclosure.

Everyone in the industry takes shoe money so there are inherent conflicts of interests no matter what. But if a company explicitly pays you to produce something. That is an advertisement, not editorial, and needs to be disclosed.

On a tangent, I find it hard to understand how different Rojo and Wejo are. Rojo is always inciting something, on purpose or not. Wejo is putting out the fires, and doing so fairly well.
