Was there "new conclusive evidence," that somehow only emerged once Salazar got the referee and company behind closed doors? Of course not.

So, "The decision of the Jury of Appeal shall be final. There shall be no further right to appeal."

I don't see anything in here about stomping your foot, yelling and calling your dad (Nike) until you get the result what you want.

If they think there isn't gonna be bumping in indoor track (or at the world champs) they should find another sport. DQ was unwarranted. As agreed on the 1st appeal. Money rules this sport. and Irony that a company PRE was involed with is corrupting it

Agree. To me it's a difficult call. If I had to make it, I would rule it a foul. There were two ways out. Back out and around, or through Hasay's legs, and GG chose the disruptive path. Barely. While I could see points in either direction, I don't think the big win factors in. Nike supreme influence may, but I was not there for that. 10 slow replays later (and don't forget an official on the site flagged it) I think it was a foul. Milder than many, but clearly disruptive. Have others gotten away with worse? Not a defense in my mind. That said, I can see why the officials waffled--judgment call for sure, but we all seem to fall into camps on this one. The fun part? Unlike an amazing and historic pole vault record, this is getting a lot of the kind of attention that tiny issues in baseball and football do. Look at the MB fill up.

when it comes down to it Gabriele Grunewald is clearly the better runner and more capable of representing the USA at worlds, that ugly midget twig Hasay is past her prime. no speed and can't even make an A standard when paced by 2 dudes in a bogus race. Galen Rupp is one of the best but still got beat by a 39 year old despite the underwater treadmill and thyroid meds. Salazar is a disgrace to the sport.

Ok, so here it is. To be honest I have not read all of the above comments just because there are too many (lol). I do however know enough about the topic to comment on this thread.

Firstly, the DQ was RIDICULOUS! What do people expect? You are running indoors where everything is tight. Someone got clipped, this happens all the time in track, so what is the big deal or controversy here? Secondly, There was NO intent to impede.

Are we just going to start DQ'ing everyone who clips the heels of their opponent from now on lol? Both Salazar and Hasay need to grow a pair. Hasay has always been a little woos anyways...

To be honest, I think Gabe needed for this to happen. This bumping and smashing into things is getting comical and I hope she can learn from this and move on and be the best runner that we know she can be. I'm not impressed with TMZ, I mean Letsrun with their stoking of the flames on this one.

Even Nike sponsored athletes (Flanagan and Derrick to name two) who are not in Salazar's training group are being vocal that this is messed up.

I'm a fan of Salazar's athletes, but he's embarrassed himself, his employers, and the sport.

As has been said already: a coach is right to protest. When that protest is denied she can appeal. But when that appeal is denied, there is nothing in the rules that allows one to change that outcome again.

Grunewald won the race. Grunewald won the protest. Grunewald won the appeal of the protest. In a fair world, it ends there.

I finally got a chance to watch the video and I viewed the contact as accidental and did not warrant a dq. However I stand behind Alberto's win at all costs approach.

Watching the incident in slow motion it is clear that GG pulls her elbow in, closer to her body, to try to avoid contact, as Hasay drifts right, forcing GG outside. I have no skin in the game one way or the other, but to declare that what happened warrants disqualification is unreasonable.

And I did not see an official raise a yellow flag during the race (although it could have happened) as USATF contends.

The only person embarrassing themselves is you. Try to keep up with what actually happened and with what the rules actually are. The rules state that the outcome can be changed if new evidence is presented. The only thing really embarrassing the sport is the amount of people on here that aren't rational enough to wait for the real details to come out or at least know what the rules are (you).

They do not pertain and make posters look like idiots. Driving laws are different than rules on the track.

If you MUST think in terms of cars, think car RACING. A small inconsequential bump like that in NASCAR would barely get a mention.

What did "Rowbury, Hasay, and Rupp" do for you to wish bad luck upon them and why would you root against USA athletes?

that was nothing in terms of contact and Jordan knew it, hence her withdrawal. you guys must not watch track races very often. that was like a rub at best.
