I'm pretty sure Tom was at Cornell at some point. I think he was hurt and may not have competed for them.
Also, he attended ULowell for about as long as he attended Brookline High

Confusing...
He went to 1) Brookline HS, 2) Newton South, 3) Newton North, 4) Richmond, 5) Cornell, 6) ULowell, 7) Westwood HS, 8) someplace else.
This guy is only 22-23 years old. No wonder why this happened, he's moved around so much he hasn't developed a routine. Tom- stay in one place for a while, you'll get comfortable with the people you work with and conflicts like this won't occur.
This story is on yahoo's front page today.
What's the UMASS Lowell story?
Looking back on the Alan Webb story, it is ironic that two twenty something suppossed journalists professed such a level righteous indignation while more respectable track outlets ignored the story.
just two nobodies trying to make their name off a somebody
The AD has been placed on administrative leave while the School Committee looks into it...
I'm not familier with how schools work in MA, but I'm surprised that this high school had a head coach that isn't a school employee (don't teachers usually do the head coaching duties?). At my high school (i'm from the midwest), I can only think of one or two head coaches that were not full time teachers.
Either way, I don't know why an AD would be so confrontational to someone who puts in a lot of work into helping high school kids while managing to hold down a day job at the same time.

From other accounts, it appears that the coach may have provoked the AD by repeatedly ignoring his directive(s) and tolerating obviously taunting behavior by his athletes (wearing half-shirts, etc.). Yes, the AD may have over-reacted, but his anger may be somewhat understandable.
Just breaking. Tom still is an arrogant crap head and does not think his poop smells. But to add too the story
This is truly a soap opera...
Westwood —
Westwood High Athletic Director Karl Fogel is on administrative leave while the School Committee launches an investigation into track coach Tom Davis’s abrupt dismissal on Friday, April 29.
“We’ve launched an investigation,” School Committee chair Josepha Jowdy told the Westwood Press Monday night. “The athletic director has been put on administrative leave until we’ve finished the investigation.”
School Committee Vice-Chair Brian Kelly said Monday the committee members have received some comments from parents.
“It’s a crazy issue to cause so much controversy. We’ve heard a lot of conflicting stories, so we’re looking into it,” Kelly said. “We don’t want to rush into anything. We’re trying to get all the facts.”
Jowdy would not say how the School Committee would proceed in the investigation, or what, if anything would come of its findings.
“We haven’t decided,” Jowdy said. “We’re taking it up with counsel until we decide that.”
On Friday, April 29, Fogel fired Davis after what Davis described as a heated argument about male athletes training shirtless. Superintendent John Antonucci said in a statement on the school’s website last week, “I can assure you that Friday’s decision to relieve Mr. Davis of his duties was not the result of a single incident, but rather the regrettable outcome of an on-going discussion.”
The School Committee has the authority to set policy, hire and fire the superintendent, and approve the school’s operating budget, Jowdy said; the elected board does not have the power to hire or fire teachers or other school staff.
“We’re trying to have an independent review,” Jowdy said. “We thought it would be best coming from us.”
Ultimately, any decision based on the findings of the investigation would come from the school administration, Kelly said. Antonucci was unavailable for comment this morning.
The next School Committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Little Theater at Westwood High School.
Fogel has been investigated before by the school department. In 2008 he was suspended without pay while being evaluated following an incident in which, according to police reports, he struck a student. The nature of the contact was never revealed and Antonucci reinstated Fogel after the investigation found he did not “pose a risk to students.”
The league also fined Bynum $25,000 for ripping off his jersey while heading to the locker room...
sweet. maybe Fogel will finally get fired.
Why do you have to be a dick head? The guy was trying to share some information. Maybe he or she had not refresh the page before posting. Not everyone is a perfect asshole like you.

Hadn't refreshed in nearly an hour? Actually the posts in question were in reply to the post right before them. Nice try.
As for being a perfect asshole, I guess it must take one to know one.
36 minutes is not an hour. Some people have a life and do not sit and look at Letsrun 24/7. Sorry, I do not hit the refresh button every thirty seconds like you Mr. Perfect.

No. He lived in Ithaca for a while. Maybe took 1 class. But was never a full-time student or on the team. Had nothing to do with being hurt and more to do with that he was not enrolled there.

Yup, I've heard lot's of stuff about Tom and his big ego and big mouth. There might be more to this story than meets the eye.
It looks to me that this is a case of insubordination, not shirts vs. no shirts.
Thats exactly what it is. Guy has done a great job of distorting the facts though and creating a media storm to make it look like it was something as silly as shirts.
Thanks. I only read the story, not comments on here. It is clear from the story that it was an issue of insubordination, and not about shirts. the coach said that they were not running shirtless, since they had shirts in their shorts. Clearly insubordination.
Tom is a clown, as I stated before. It certainly appears he has stretched the truth 2 say the least. We wont miss u in the TVL going forward....
