Jonathan Gault has written an in-depth feature on what Shelby Houlihan's prospects are moving forward. He quotes 3 shoe execs as to whether there is a market for her, has quotes from her new agent Paul Doyle and also a quote from Jerry Schumacher as to whether or not he'd want to coach her.

To be clear, Whiteness isn't a get out of jail free card. We don't give Russian runners the same rope, for example. And if Galen Rupp was ever popped, I doubt he'd be treated the same, but whiteness is a factor.
Saying whiteness is a factor is just lazy. I get why humans do that (you're the racist and can't see anything but race) - but it's really just not true. If Yared Nuguse - the goofy dentist wannabe was caught up in a similar situation - and all of his teammates and his coach said he was clean, you don't think he'd be treated similarly?

OK so “whiteness” is not a factor? And those of us who disagree are racists who cannot see anything but race? Rojo you may have hit a new low. This is inexcusable.
People keep using the words "guilty" and "convicted"... no crime was committed. She failed a drug test. All the drug test tells you is that a banned substance was found in her system, it has no implication of how it got there or a persons intent.
Her ban is the standard penalty for a failed test, not for her actions that resulted in the failed test. The assumption most haters make is that she knowingly doped. But the report released makes no judgement other than they didn't find her Burrito explanation plausible enough to favor an exception.
I think this is the crux of all the Shelby conversations... it doesn't matter if it was an accident or it was intentional, she pays the price for what's in her body. The price has been paid.
Personally, I do not think she knowingly cheated. I think it's a bummer she had to take a four year ban, but the rules were followed accordingly. I hope she dominates. She could have easily taken the Regina Jacobs route and didn't. The fan base should welcome her back... they don't have to do it lovingly, but all the hate doesn't do a thing.
"Personally", what you think is irrelevant, a mere personal preference without convincing substantial basis, because a court that examined the case on the evidence - including Houlihan's - found she was a doper.
Of course it does. You can tell everyone what My beliefs are. You are then credible. It doesn't matter than you thinks she intentionally doped because she is free to compete.
Wow. Just wow. Letsrun again doing propaganda for free for this drug cheat, putting up her agent's PR as quote of the day without any further comment.
i think it is a very relevant running related quote, more than worthy of QOTD
Relevant, maybe, propaganda, definitely.
They could have asked a spokesperson from the AIU about the doper's ban instead of someone paid by her, but we all know how the brojos love to support this doper. No surprise here.

if you can't read between the lines (i like money) of what an agent (or politician) says to the media you've got other issues....
so letsrun should ignore the business side of the game entirely? I think w/o a doubt she was on the burritos heavy but reporting on the development is simply journalism w/ in their scope.

You may as well tell everyone the moon is made of green cheese. It doesn't make it credible because you say it. A 4 year ban shows your beliefs don't matter.

Giddy, this is the most accurate neutral-observer summary anyone could wordcraft describing what happened. Excellent work.
The one lesson everyone -- most importantly elite athletes of any sport who are regularly drug tested -- learned from "ShelburritoGate" is, by ordering cooked meat from food trucks or fast food restaurants, you are putting your career at risk. Whether or not this is what actually happened to Shelby, food chain contamination has been known to exist for several years. Don't trade in the best years of your career for a few moments of dining convenience.
So, we now know Shelby will be competing this month. Thought she might open at UW's Preview meet Friday, but not on entry list. Someone mentioned in a previous Shelby thread that the Dr. Sander Scorcher meet @ NYC Armory on the 24th-25th might be it since the mile winners get auto bids to the Millrose Wanamaker Miles.
