We merged like 5 threads into 1 and sort of combined the titles. Rojo, who said Rooks had a 1% chance at a medal, started a thread pointin gout the betting odds on Bovada were 33-1 when the race started.
I concede, clout on an obscure internet message board could technically translate to international glory. I hope there's a better way to encapsulate that in an epitaph.

Thats morbid. How about you post your epitaph instead?

It's easy when you're not busy clutching pearls:
hardly noteworthy but coerced to surrender citizenship by vigilante rabble over someone else's sports contest outcome
That is the race Henry Marsh would have run in '84 if he hadn't been sick. Right down to the time. And it is even better at a BYU grad, isn't it?
So smart by Rooks to stay out of the hot pace at the back and move up, but not a lot of Americans have the balls to commit to moving up on that outside with 500 to go and actually take the lead. usually they move up and the kicking starts and they're all the way out in lane 3 when it happens. Damn, ballsy move and even better hanging on in that last 400. Thought that he was going to get overhauled at 200 to go, but the Girma fall was a big, big deal. Unlike the rocketfueled women's steeple, this was a really good steeple with human times. Well done.
Also, the announcers missed it, but the fall by the Ugandan mid-race had a long term effect as well.
Well done Rooks, well done.
I don’t wanna see anyone talking about the fall as if Girma had any chance at all of coming back at him. I feel like you and a couple others are lowkey trying to diminish his Silver by mentioning Girma’s fall. Did you not see how close Rooks was to Gold?
Girma got cooked as soon as Rooks surged past him. Sorry.

Girma’s fall was karma indeed after the elbows he gave El Bakkali. Too many people give E. Africans a pass for some of the dirty tactics they employ, never mind the rampant drug use.
