Kerr spend the entire year talking about how he's the best in the world, how the best part about winning is seeing everyone else lose, how he doesn't feel like showing up to the Euros because it wouldn't mean anything for him to win, signs up for a cash grab league and talks about how he's looking forward to not having to care about the Olympics and worlds because he's got his cash grab league to compete in, never racing and being more concerned about flexing his cars and clothes on Instagram

Only to put all his eggs into one basket and failing despite literally everything going his way and him preparing for the race perfectly, to prove that he doesn't and will never have what it takes to be an Olympic champion

Nice try. His preparation and execution was amazing and he peaked, ran a PB, took down Jakob and earned a silver which is an upgrade for him. Trying to paint that as failure is just dumb. In your ret@rded mind, silver = nothing. If you want to do well on this stage you have to train for and want gold. That's exactly what he did and there is no scenario where he or anyone else was going to beat Hocker yesterday. Jakob is the massive loser in this one.

Mad respect to Kerr for putting in a massive effort, but can't help thinking that if he had hugged the rail instead of going wide on the last bend that he could have won it. He had to run longer than Hocker and Jakob was toast after that opening lap anyway. Kerr thought Jakob was the only man to beat and that might have cost him the gold in an otherwise perfectly executed race.

Jakob and Kerr killed each other and Hocker's win was a fantastic finish to a crazy race. Kerr will never win an olympic gold, but his effort was heroic, and so was Jakob even though he raced like an idiot.

Agreed! So glad Kerr and Jakob both ran like idiots due to their rivalry and both lost, for Hocker to snatch all the Olympic glory!! Woooop - Cole 1, Jakob 1, Josh 0. LA will be great.

It's not my mind, it's Kerrs mind. He's the one who's been talking about how he's the best 1500 runner in the world and how winning the gold is just a formality, and how he wouldn't accept a silver beforehand.

That's why being a one trick pony who puts all his eggs in one basket is stupid. Jakob is still the fastest 1500 runner in the world right now, has won gold medals in previous competitions and still has the chance to win more Olympic gold medals. Kerr has nothing else after failing his own goal.

I have to disagree here. Re-watching the finish a few times, I don't think there was any way Kerr was going to hold off Hocker.

At about 110m to go, J.I. shut down Hocker's lane completely, Hocker chopped a step, *slowed down* to tuck behind Jake and go outside, then, when the lane opened again, changed course, re-accelerated and ran down Kerr. Meanwhile, Kerr had a relatively clear route to the outside and still got chased down.

The more I watch it, the more impressed I am by Hocker's finish.
