Was it hot? The temps online didn't look too bad. His comments about the team going to the well for SECs were interesting. If Lemngole and Olemomoi 'went to the well' that is a little scary.
South Regionals will be very competitive on the mens and women's side. I guess we should expect to see another hard effort.
I’m a hardcore Tuohy fan; however, I’m incredibly impressed with what Valby continues to do. I’d love to see a replay if you chose to post! *high-five*
I did some math on the splits and came up with real distances were likely at 0.75 k 1.80 k 2.95 k 4.05 k 5.00 k 6.05 k
which seems to agree with what was posted.
Valby's 400 m pace by nominal k was then 72.5 72.8 73.4 73.5 73.3 77.7
and times at 1K, 2K, 3K, 4K, 5K, 6K 3:01.3 6:03.2 9:06.7 12:10.3 15:13.5 18:27.8
maybe the finish was a pinch longer than 6.05 and she slowed a little less in the last k
For comparison I get Doris pace at
72.5 73.1 73.0 73.1 79.6 85.0
and split times at 3:01.3 6:04.2 9:06.8 12:09.5 15:28.4 19:00.8
close.
first splits of 800m was correct - first 1k was all downhill so the race went out very fast. 4:45 first mile for women and 4:20 first mile for men. the rest are accurate. I'd say correct splits were 800, 1850, 3000, 4050, 5000, 6050

Is the 1800 split the same mat as the 4k mat? Which one for 800m?
It looks like the 3k and 5k are short, less than the others being long. If the mats were bumped up at 3k/ 5k that would make sense....
I think the "4.05" has to be closer to 4.08 or else the times would show the whole field slowing from 3K to 4K and then accellerating for the next k and slowing for the last k
If 3k and 5k split mats are off by 80 meters the split paces even out. The first two might need to be adjusted but I think loll said the 4k mat was placed correctly. Total distance 6k.
Just watched a replay of Katelyn’s win over Parker at last year’s NATS. Katelyn was stronger over the last 1K. Parker’s was consistently stronger over the entire course with her win at Nuttycombe. It should be an epic rematch. Will interesting to see if both run at Regionals.
Parker Valby won the 2023 SEC XC title in dominant fashion as she led the Flroida Gators to the championship title and this video talks more about how the ra...
The fact NCAA doesn't have a openly free replay of a major championship is a classic example of everything wrong with our sport. They have a massive budget and assets. Stop private profit off student performances.
Back-to-back SEC Cross Country Champion Parker Valby exudes excitement for and pride in her "squad" before passing the mic to fellow Gator Amelia Mazza-Downie.
It sounded like from mazza-downie that she played it a little cautious, since this was her first race back. Which means there might be some more under the tank there.
Also, comparing the delta in times between Valby and the other Gators in this race versus Nuttycombe, it looks like some big steps are being made pretty much all-around.
Great interview. That team has obviously bonded together both on and off the course. Valby seems like she is more excited about the team's success than her own.
