I don't see the sense in recommending vacations for an inconvenient illness.
So you don't get a flu shot? Notta lotta MDs agree with you...
I get the influenza vaccine every year because I'm required by my employer.
If you're not skeptical of the influenza vaccine your head is in the sand. The data supporting the flu vaccine is very soft, and "effectiveness" varies widely from year to year.
I think at risk populations should get it(>65, lung disease, immunocompromised etc). But the odds of benefit for a healthy 40 year old with no risk factors who runs 50 miles a week is extremely low.
Hospitals require it hoping that if staff is vaccinated it will reduce spread to vulnerable populations. The data supporting this are mixed and conflicting.
Many doctors are on the take from big pharma. If you want a reason we shouldn't be boosting non-stop post omicron, here is a big one: Excess deaths. Here are the excess deaths from the UK (heavily boosted) and the US (hardly boosted). What you need to focus on is the period post omicron.
In the US, there have been almost no excess deaths post omicron, whereas, in the UK, there have been plenty of excess deaths post omicron. This is because omicron blanketed the globe with natural immunity. Further boosters tend to neutralize some of your existing antibodies, leaving you vulnerable to another infection, especially with the arbitrary period put out by the CDC when they were trying to prevent all infections. SARS /COVID protection is actually very durable. When they ran tests on patients with SARS prior to emergence of COVID, they found that they still had measurable immunity ten years later.

There are strict regulations in the US concerning relationships between "big pharma" and physicians. I graduated from med school 12 years ago and I can't even tell you the last time I got anything from a drug company.
Probably when I got a steak dinner during a rotation in med school 14 years ago for listening to a drug rep.
"Big Pharma" has literally no influence on my practice.

You don't prescribe drugs and push vaccines?
Any doctor who has recommended kids get this needle stuck in them and pull the trigger filling their bloodstreams with this unknown concoction should lose their license. minimum. A philosopher knows better.
Case in point Dr Jill Biden is COVID positive (what booster dose do you think she is on at this point?).
The defense will be that she would’ve gotten sicker without the shots. A nonfalsifiable argument that can’t be proved one way or the other.
She has t-cell memory. Pretty much the same as everyone else. It's why everyone is having mild symptoms from this latest strain. Same reason we had mild symptoms to pretty much every other non-novel coronavirus we have encountered every year of our lives.
Doctors are no longer a source of advice. They are predominantly fat, tell you eggs will cause high cholesterol, and give you pills they make money on instead of dietary and lifestyle changes. —- once they did that for a few decades everyone realized 90% of them are just morons that knew how to study for exams in college.

I have a sneaking respect for someone who is willing to *own* his/her ignorance so publicly.

Covid has always been built on a house of lies.
It has the same symptoms as the flu, made the flu disappear, but it’s not the flu. Some people, like you, are just born to be marks.

Correct. they can test well and have tolerance for blood but really just salesman as the “Covid” experience has taught us. Doctors were virtually unanimous in their defense of the vaccine. just snake oil salesman selling a vaccine that isn’t even a vaccine.
Most everything we did during the pandemic was wrong.
-masks do nothing, and requiring them was pure unadulterated idiocy.
- social distance of the magic 6 feet was fantasy land level of self delusional BS.
-requiring people to REMAIN INSIDE was pure insanity.
-requiring masks outside was laughable.
- the completely randomness of who was allowed to continue to work or who was closed down.
-the CDC just told US citizens that they didn't have to pay rent, and we all just went along with it.
I think the vaccines were a great thing FOR SOME PEOPLE I do not think they should have been required or mandated. No matter how much some of you may hate the vax, there were a lot of people that died from C19 that refused the vaccine.
Agreed. the one caveat is that we do not hate the vaccine, the hate lies in the fact that others tried to force it on us, as if they know better. when they do not. from day 1, as a regular runner, I said when runners die, I will consider it. but that never happened so made zero sense to put that crap in my body. it changed people, now we will be forever attacked with needles and it’s coming again.
Even the criticisms of those who had issues with the vaccine has been a lie. Just because you’re against this one particular treatment doesn’t mean you’re an anti-VAXer.
Also, when you become a doctor, you expect to be one for life. There’s no Plan B. So, even if they had reservations about the vaccine, they didn’t see it as a hill to die on.
