Lasse Viren. Lydiard was adamant that Viren was clean. But he wins double olympic gold twice and very little else.
Definitely Lasse, to prove all the bitter, jealous losers wrong.
Would need to define doping. I doubt he was doing steroids. Blood packing? Definitely possible.
Same thing for a lot guys. I wouldn't be surprised to learn Rupp was clean. But I bet he has a list of a dozen TUEs that are right on the legal side but morally questionable... The whole list of caffeine, baking soda, thyroid meds and who knows what else to try and manipulate body chemistry.
Typical: amphetamines since the 50s, steroids since the 60s, blood transfusions since the 70s (and Epo since the 90s). I believe the Soviets et al. went hardcore in the early/mid 70s, the rest is history.
Blood transfusions were not illegal until 1985. So if we found someone doing it before 1985, would that athlete be still "clean"?

If by blood packing, you mean training training rigorously and at altitude, draw and store the blood, and reintroduce your own blood just prior to competition, the process was not a banned procedure until a few years post-Viren.
As for Rupp, there has been pretty convincing evidence he was likely given testosterone in high school, sent vials inside carved out books, etc. I would be very surprised to learn he was clean. Especially when he was hanging in races with several who had a lot of clouds around them as well.
Setting aside one's subjective interest in the distance records, there can only be one correct answer here: Usain Bolt. He dominated multiple Olympics and rewrote the record books in astounding fashion. If he did that while clean, it would be a monumental human achievement. Sadly, both the history and current state of track requires a very reasonable suspicion that he was juiced.
Just curious as to why there is any suspicion re: D'Amato? Is that based solely on her improving so dramatically after years away from competition? I get it - her comeback was totally unexpected and bucks all sorts of odds. But she has no affiliation with dirty coaches, hasn't popped any positive A or B samples, and hasn't really run that incredibly fast relative to current US women (aside from some solid times using super shoes, which would appear to impact the longer road distances quite a bit).

Why? Running those times at her age and balancing a home life, with the non-productive years before she turned it on.
- Assume the public knows you received this power and HAS TO accept what you find out (and you are required to truthfully share it). Basically, these message boards can't be full of posts saying you're lying or "how can we trust the magic actually worked?"
- You would also learn how each instance of PEDs got in athlete X's body (for the cases like Shelby's, Gatlin, Ajee Wilson, etc.), and where they got it from. This could potentially expose a dirty coach / agent as well.
- You can pick an active or retired athlete.
- WA and any other organizations are still free to do whatever they want after learning this information. They will also treat it as fact.
Curious how many people here would use this power to go after something they think was doping vs. try to prove their favorite athlete was clean? Keep in mind, the answer you get might be the opposite of what you were hoping for!
Fascinating question. So many options….any of the outliers like Bolt or Kipchoge or Bekeke or El G, or those with questionable associations like Farah or Rupp or Lagat.
At the end of the day, I would choose Shelby because I’d like some more insights into the science and due process of modern testing.
She was already caught- waste of a guess. Surprised I haven't seen Jakob on here yet, so I''ll throw it out there. I think odds are he is clean though- I was suspicious early, but I think he may just be a freak.
I would throw a dart at any BTC guy- specifically Kincaid or Moh Ahmed. Rupp is guilty by association in my book, so he gets a pass.
Not even close - Jakob. Just to see LR go into complete meltdown when its collective GWH ambitions were doused in cold water.
Man, you hasbarats are consistenly attacking Jakob and accusing Ryun and Snell of amphetamine use. The all-time doping champs are literally all of the top Africans since 1987 and the old East German crews up through the 80s. Not even arguable.

Anybody with braces in their 20's not from a poor country or any competitor who dropped ten pounds of fat and gained 20 of muscle in one off season(a sprinter of course).
I haven't seen Galen Rupp, which having worked with Alberto Salazar for so long one would assume. But I would be interested not just in the pure PEDs he was using, but the grey area stuff like medical exceptions, etc he had.
I think people assume folks are on illegal PEDs, but often athletes can get medical exceptions. I'm sure Galen and his friend Mo Farah were using plenty.
