Katir finished 7th in the Spanish championships in 2020.
His time of 3:36 was the 6th fastest in Spain that year.
That was his level in 2020.
The next year he ran faster than Cacho and missed the European record by 0.08 seconds.
Many people thought he would win the 1500m gold in Tokyo (he didn't run it).
What 'any number of reasons' other than EPO helps you go from 7th in Spain to the 2nd fastest ever in Europe in a matter of months, and then no visible progression in the next 2 years?
Here you sum up why Katir has been under suspicion, and yes, going from 3.36 to 3.28 is so extraordinary that I hope the testing / investigation of him were thorough. As I will hope was being done regarding Jakob I.s progression as a 17 years old, and his brother Filip’s overall development…
I’m pretty sure you don’t have to be doped to go from 3.36 to 3.28 (but I might be wrong -I have been wrong before in my life), as I’m also pretty sure the Ingebrigtsens are clean… The Devil is in the details, and having them will change our view, but we almost never got these details… Therefore the need for thorough investigations and testing regime, not only regarding the Ingebrigtsens and Katir, but all elite….
Katir is the LEAST likely doper, because it's obvious he's always trying very hard. Most dopers make it look easy.
Is there a dope that can make you give 110% effort the whole way through? No, that's just something a few athletes can do but most can't. A mind thing.
Wiggo, your ability to consistently generate the worst possible take on every thread is genuinely something to behold.
No, you're just one of the nasty weirdos who gets a kick out of coping at me.
LIFE
you pissed away a little more of it the moment you decided to type that nasty diatribe. You imagine you're hurting me, but in reality you're just demeaning yourself. Not before this board, mind, but before your own self. Can you get it back, or will you be like this forever?
I don't care, but you should. Nobody likes nasty people.

Coevett as always jumps to conclusions without knowing barely anything. In that final where Katir was only 7th he almost fell with 300m to go due to another runner cutting him. His 3,36 that year comes from a very slow first 1000m 2,26 and a strong finish. He didnt get to run any diamond league or other high level events. You just want to attack him because you always attack any non white runner.

Yes, he ALMOST fell but didn't, didn't appear to lose any ground or momentum. You can see how hard he is straining to keep in touch with the others at the bell. When the commentators were going through the line up at the start, they didn't seem to mention Katir. I think there were 2 or 3 top Spaniards missing from that race (understandably being the Covid year).
Katir is like George Mills running 3:27 this year + extra red flags. I'm a huge fan of George Mills, but I wouldn't hesitate to say he was doping if he were to suddenly move to EPO era great level. I think he switched training camps to Germany last year, and you can see the improvement (a 3.33 the other week). He might get to 3:31 or 3:32 this season, who knows, maybe even 3:30 in a perfect race, as well as challenge for a spot on the World Championship team. That's a whole different thing to running 3:27 or 3:28 and beating Jakob, dropping a 12:50 5000m and 7:27 3000m, and going to the World Championships as many people's gold medal favorites.

The only people here defending Katir are the usual depraved doping apologists such as Rekrunner.
Kevin Lopez who won that race has a pb of 3:34.8 and was 30 years old. Neither of the guys who finished 2nd or 3rd have ever broken 3:33. Yet Rekrunner claims Katir was in 3:32 shape.
No Mechal or Ordenez, the two best Spanish 1500 guys at the time in that race either.
The race was won in 3:44, with Katir in 3:46. Less than 12 months later and Katir would run two back to back 3:43 1500ms in winning the 3000m at a cold and wet Gateshead without breaking a sweat, screaming 'VAMOs, VAMOS' and mocking the Brojos and the LetsRun forum by pointing his fingers at his ears.

What did I claim?
I don't care if you lie to yourself, but please don't make up lies about what I claimed.

Again with the “cold and wet” Gateshead where almost everyone set a PB, the sun was shining, and it was high 60s. You just hate the idea of not embellishing. I’m pretty sure Ordonez was in that 1500 finishing 5th but why not pack another lie on. Everyone agrees that Katir’s improvement was extraordinary but would you please stop making stuff up.
I was at the Gateshead Grand Prix sat on the bottom bend in the pouring rain.
The weather conditions were anything but perfect for distance running. If you have ever been to Gateshead (I grew up 3 miles away and regularly trained on the track) you would know that it is ALWAYS windy, that day it was windy, cold and wet. It was nothing like a still night in Oslo or even London. It was not a day for PBs. It was a highly competitive race with lots of great talent.... But it was never ever 'perfect' for distance running.
I got soaked to the skin, I was freezing and cold and miserable, apart from that race there was very little entertainment in that meeting for a diamond league event.
Even Komen himself would have struggled in those dark and gloomy God-forsaken windswept Gateshead conditions.
Andy Butchart would’ve run 7:22 but he was soaking wet and nearly fell down 4 times due to the tornado-like winds. He also ran multiple laps in lane 3 due to the rain-soaked track.
