Wow, Dyestat rankings just came out and looks like all of NP’s top 4 are ranked in the top 8.

5:10 tempo pace for 4M at 7,000 feet in June! So, the 5:08 around the Rose Bowl was at an easier pace for them by this time.

Seems legit. Just looked him up. 8:56 last year and dropped a lot of time from the year before so he’s improving in chunks.

Good grief the drama of this program and the witchcraft is silly. My son runs for the team. He is not the best but very good. It is about culture. You take two kids running 45-50 miles per week and one sees 17:30 as fast and the other sees sub-15 fast then you will have a different result. The subconscious mind is more powerful than the physical body. The Kenyans have been beating us for decades because have a superior belief system on who they believe they are. We have this small town in Newbury Park and Sean Brosnan has changed that belief system. Rather than celebrating this, you vilify it. You don't have to focus on anything other than the results. No one is cheating, no one has a superior feeder middle school program. Nico Young was unheard of until he was a junior. Sean deserves the credit period. Sam McDonnell on the girls team barely qualified to be on the team and now she is top 3 in the nation. ALL of your insane analysis over the past few years is completely ridiculous. Yes the two families are exceptional, but once they are gone we have a team that is loaded to the hilt because we believe what Sean is selling and even though we may not break the national record we will still be one of the best no matter what. This is on Sean. Even the buy in from the families at the end of the day is a result of Sean's commitment. Let's put this to rest for good. The hardest working coach in America is Sean Brosnan by a country mile and the results he gets from his team are proof positive. That is all that is going on here.

Brady went to an all-star team, that team would have won with almost any other QB.

Don't forget, Brady was a 6th round pick, never won anywhere, even HS, the Belicheck made him into a winner.

How insulting to the thousands of really hard working high school coaches out there. Your kid runs for the team so you think his coach works harder than every coach in the country, by a country mile? You have no exposure to other programs in the country and no idea how hard many of them work. This is precisely why the drama around this program exists; the blow hard braggers, including the coach. As every reasonable person on this board says, it’s a combination of factors and yes, your guy is doing a good job.

Bro, I love the enthusiasm for your team and coach, but you may want to temper your expectations a smidge for when the two families are gone.

In 2019, when the famous two families were freshmen, Newbury's top 5 freshmen were ranked 1,2,6,15 and 27 in the state of CA for their grade. That's an average rank of 10.2.

In 2021, the top 5 freshmen and sophomores currently on the team rank 4, 36, 61, 140 and 202 in their classes in CA. That's an average rank of 88.6.

I'm not so sure that would qualify as loaded to the hilt and will out Newbury in a place to be one of the best. Maybe one of the best in their league?

He is upset at the general attacks on the coach as simply a lucky recruiter and no special training techniques which is true there are people on the board who have made that claim. The data shows he has indeed been transformative and likely taking really good athletes to generational talents. And so far his athletes continue to do well in college which even surprised me since I worried about breakdown from injury or fatigue to be successful at a high level.

Do they do well in college? I know about Nico, but what about the past three or so years. Honestly ignorant about who the alum are and how they are doing. Anyone have time to check on the status and give a report?

Is that really how you read the post? Sounds to me he is saying the coach is 100% responsible for the success as he says "Sean deserves the credit period".

This is trivia. The value of this high school is from how well the graduates run after high school.

I dunno know my friend. I’ve listened to quite a few interviews and don’t recall him ever talking about how much talent he has to work with. Maybe you can post one of the videos where he mentions talent plays a role.

He stated yes the two families certainly play a role, but he was more grieving the fact many say it was just these families that make the program special. He then used examples like Nico who was a 16 minute 3 miler freshman who went on to break 3000m record and Sam McDonnell emerging from relatively unknown to one of the top girls in the nation.

Maybe this is a reading comprehension problem, but what you just stated sounds very much like someone who is minimizing the value of talent, complaining about people who say it’s about talent and taking credit for creating stars.
