hahaha what a disaster
hahaha what a disaster
Feel for Kigen there, how does that even happen? Fire that guy ASAP. Dude was spent after sprinting that 2nd to last lap.
1500m Takeaways:
1. Tim in better form than Jakob
2. Katir is a factor in the 5,000
3. Discouraging efforts from Jye Edwards, Filip
4. Simotwo, Lewandowski look like they’ll be in the mix if it’s a slower race
5. Tim keeps improving on his finish, which makes him dangerous and maybe less reliant on running sub-3:30 in the final
6. Kenya will find a way to get him in
Tough way to run 8:07 lol.
Kigen was about to cry
Unacceptable.

He’s a 1500/5000 runner having a huge breakthrough year. He is not old or anything. I have no idea if he’s doping or not but this is not a 26-year-old or a guy being coached by Jama Aden.
No, but he is a Spanish Moroccan and you'd have to believe in Father Christmas not to be skeptical. There's a reason nobody shakes his hand after races.
Yes there is, Covid.

It was shocking to witness after the race everybody congratulating the Kenyan, Cheruiyot, runner but everybody ignoring the Spanish runner, Katir. That is unfair and unwarranted.
Tim won though. Also, Katir and Cheruiyot had a friendly exchange at the end and both were joking around for the camera
That was painful to watch their realization what happened, but not as painful as running that last lap after thinking you already ran it…

how does this happen at monaco of all places sheesh
Surely more likely to happen in Monaco?

Lol new strat, sprint out the 2nd to last lap and jog your way to the finish
Feel so bad for that guy… what the f. How does the ring beller not count right?
If this happened in the Olympic final, would they rerun the race?
Now DOBEK....and AROP duel!
TBH you should know what lap you're on without relying on the bell, especially in a fast-paced race. Many of the runners knew.
RIDICULOUS!
At Monaco, no less.
Pay Kigen. He won.
I feel bad but I am definitely sitting her chuckling a bit.
I really think they should make kigen financially whole - that official just cost him 10k - which would be very significant to him. Ridiculous that this happens at a diamond league event

Christ the poor dude leading. Feel terrible for him. He was bewildered and I don't blame him.
Kigen was just 3rd at Kenyan Trials. Bigger picture I think this performance is great news for him. He has a huge kick when he’s on and if it’s an 8:05-8:10 race watch out.
No, that’s not how it works. If you hear the bell you shouldn’t have to confirm by looking at the time.
