F3ck the Saudis. Of course they want to join China and Russia. Birds of a feather flock together. The Saudis murder journalists, lop off people's heads in the public square and wage a genocidal war on Yemen. Russia and the Saudis are two sides of the same coin. One is an authoritarian petrostate that is lost in its warped nationalism and the other is a petromonarchy that is ruled by Wahhabist zealots. The fact that the US stopped bending the knee to the Saudis is a huge step forward for US/Middle East policy. The US should go much further and end all military aid to the Saudis and, more importantly, pass a green new deal to end the use of fossil fuels so that the authoritarian petrostates like Russia and Saudi Arabia will go broke and fall to popular revolutions.

On March 28, the WSJ ran an article detailing how the Russian economy is showing serious signs of impending doom as a result of Russia's war in Ukraine and the resulting sanctions from the west.

Within 48 hours, Evan Gershkovich, one of the two WSJ reports who wrote the story, was arrested by FSB in Russia and charged with espionage. He now faces 20 years in prison. This is the first western reporter arrested in Russia and charged with espionage since the cold war.

The great irony is that many of the "anti-war" advocates in the west are also big Assange/Snowden backers (Aaron Mate, Roger Waters, Greenwald, Jimmy Dore, etc.). No a peep from any of them on Russia's arrest of a WSJ journalist on phony charges of espionage. Same for the recent revelation that twitter has widened its censorship of Modi's critics in India. Not going to get that one on any of the great "twitter files" stories.

I don't disagree with your point. Could happen. This war is up for grabs. Same for the future of economies. None of us knows what will happen.

Here's what we do know:

~ At the moment Russia is winning. They are in Ukraine right now and Crimea is Russia, right now.

~ The sanctions aren't hurting Russia's economy enough to make them stop (they are not achieving any political or military goal)

~ Many countries are helping Russia now.

~ The world order is changing to "multipolar" energy trade as a result of this war. This will work against america, initially for sure, and possibly much longer.

I could care less what happens in this war.

I am content knowing Ukraine is responsible for starting everything and america / NATO is the problem for siding with Ukraine's neo-nazi aggressors who invaded the Donbas before Russia.

It's just one more foreign policy blunder hurting average americans in the end. As always, cut the stupid military budget and help all of you, or people you know, regardless of political affiliation.

The great irony of your post is, Ukraine started this war. Russia didn't. If Ukraine hadn't started this war, Gershkovich would not be locked up now.

Finding the cause of the war and arguing against that cause as an anti-war critic is noble. Saves lives. Digging up dirt on Russia is not noble, it's propaganda that supports creating wars. Digging up dirt on the problem, Ukraine, is noble.

Let him stay in jail. He is supporting Ukraine, the neo-nazi state first aggressors. That is no bueno in 2023. Don't start wars.

If you had 10 neighbors and every single one of them had executed a home invasion on your house in the last 60 years you would want their homes invaded too.

Israel is far from perfect but they are a gem in that suck hole part of the world.

Here's what we do know:

- At the moment, Russia has achieved ZERO of their military or political aims by invading Ukraine. They have suffered around 70k KiA, had hundreds of thousands of casualties, and hundreds of thousands or millions of people have left Russia (many permanently) in the last year as a direct result of Putin's policies. These were largely those citizens who were young, educated, and middle-class.

- Demilitarize Ukraine. Nope. Ukraine has captured more tanks from Russia than they have lost. They're also getting hundreds of additional tanks from their allies. Along with thousands of other armored vehicles, Patriot missile batteries, drones, etc.. The Ukrainian military has never been stronger. Russia... while, not so much.

- Prevent Ukraine from joining NATO. They've probably accelerated Ukraine's acceptance into the EU and NATO by 20 years or more. And, their border with NATO is going to grow by something like 800 miles. Oops!

- The sanctions are working to drain Russia's foreign reserves, forcing Russia to incur massive budget deficits, and hindering Russia's ability to rebuild its military.

- Many countries (representing the majority of the global GDP) are helping Ukraine.

- Vladimir Putin is a wanted war criminal.

I am content knowing the Russia is 100% responsible for this war, which began when they invaded Crimea in February, 2014.

This is excellent advice. Too bad Putin was too busy starting wars to hear it. But, I'm sure he'll reward your support for his Nazi sh*thole of a regime with 10 Rubles as soon as he builds 1500 new tanks! In the meantime, I give you this pine cone.
