My week started poorly, but finished decently. After my usual easy Monday 7 miles walking with strides effort, I woke up Tuesday morning with my sciatica back for no obvious reason. I did a shorter 3 mile walk Tuesday with some soreness in my left glute area, and then paddled 2 miles on my SUP board. Wednesday I took a rest day. Thursday I tried walking again and my left side still was very sore, particularly walking downhill. After I had limped my 3 miles I hit the Aleve bottle as soon as I got home. I took an Aleve every 12 hours through Friday, which I also rested, in hopes of being able to run with my son Saturday morning. By Saturday morning I had almost no pain and rolled out with my son on our usual 6 mile trail run. My left side warmed up fine and I was able to push the pace along well with my rested legs. My 6 miles went 7:57, 7:33, 7:31, 7:17, 8:08 (long rocky technical section in this mile), 11:02 (300 ft climb in this mile), for an 8:14/mi average, which is my fastest time on that loop this year. This morning I walked 5 miles with strides and had no issues with my left side. So a modest 24 miles for the week.
Good running to all!
