I thought about running early this morning but it sounded wet outside, and I was tired anyway. So I put off my run till lunchtime.

My run was pretty terrible actually. One of those days when I wonder why I even try to do this. I had no lung capacity--what's up with that? You would think I was a lifelong smoker, the way I struggle to get air into my lungs when I run these days.
Try running here in Denver with the horrible air pollution from the nearby forest fires and the current oppressive heat wave. There are two major fires burning out of control in the Rocky Mountains sending smoke & haze throughout the front range. Add in this unbelievable heat bubble (mid & upper 90s the last several days with a record 100 today!) and it's insane to try and run outdoors. I can smell & taste the smoke and my eyes water up quickly. Except for when I went out of state for college in the late 70s, I've lived here all my life and this is the worst heat & air quality since the record-setting brutal summer of 2012!
I can only run 3 days week because of my OA and today was a scheduled run day. 90 degrees still at 7:00 pm with haze and the smell of smoke everywhere. I ran with my gaiter on that wear in the winter time but with the heat it was difficult and hard to breath. So, I walked more and cut it short. Next run day is Thursday with upper 90s and poor air quality anticipated still from the fires.
I thought about hitting the bike at the gym instead of running. But the problem with that is the stupid "face diaper" requirement at the gym even when doing cardio and not being anywhere near anyone. And if you're doing a hard cardio session on a bike, elliptical, treadmill, etc., it's impossible to breath efficiently with a mask, especially if you have exercise-induced asthma (EIA) like I do. Any competent excercise physiologist will tell you that. Even the W.H.O. on their site doesn't recommend excercising with a mask, but these tyrannical county & state department of health orginizations are the ones setting these stupid rules for the gyms as a requirement for reopening. I would like to see if any these county health officials are endurance athletes and see how far they get doing high-intensity cardio wearing a mask. The world of excercise has gone insane. ?
