Roderick - since there is already a bit of a Scooby Doo theme to this thread ("meddling kids" and such), maybe now you could oblige some of us curious readers by doing the bit at the end of the episode where all is revealed - where we finally find out that the bad guy was just dressing as a monster in order to scare the locals and decrease the value of the land so he could buy it cheap and build a shopping mall, or something like that. What I'm wanting revealed is your own true role in the Frank Meza Scandal. I've personally been on this thread since fairly early on, and have read the vast majority of the posts. To me, you've seemed a bit disingenuous from the start. Early on I suspected you didn't actually believe in Frank Meza, and you occasionally said some mildly disparaging things about him, but then on other occasions you'd turn around and defend him as the real deal. It was all a bit confusing at times.
Here's my hypothesis: you run some of the same races as Meza, and caught on to the fact that he was cheating. This hit you especially hard since you are also past 60, and fairly competitive yourself, so it must have been galling to see an obvious (to you at least) fraud scooping up all the awards and being treated like a hero within the little community that follows that type of thing. So you started a previous thread that gained no traction, and then you started this thread, but the interesting part about it is that rather than just saying "I think this guy is a cheat", you determined, for reasons unknown, that the better strategy would be to pass yourself off as a fan extolling the amazing exploits of FM, and see if that got the skeptics attention. Maybe you even planted some seeds of skepticism under a different name. Then from time to time, as the evidence against Meza mounted, it seemed that you would try to come to his defense. It was like you were trying to get would-be debunkers (such as myself) riled up enough to keep looking at boring race results and dig up any information we could against Meza.
If I'm on the right track, I have to congratulate you on your strategy. It worked out fantastically, and when doubler got involved, it was "game's up" for Frank. Or maybe I'm just imagining things. Maybe you're just a strange older fellow who wanted to alert the running community to this amazing old guy lighting up the roads in California, and then got disillusioned. But either way, a full accounting of your role would be a nice way to wrap things up.
