well you guys sure are intelligent. i wish you luck, i'm done with this argument, because the people i'm arguing with just don't get it.

We get it you want to tounge kiss Steve Scott and don't like Lagat because he MIGHT take the record.

Not much to get. Interesting the USATF et al are on our side, and you are essentially a crank yelling out his window at a world gone wrong.
I bet you spend a lot of time convinving yourself that the world "just doesn't get it." Good luck with that.

[quote] Do you really want to apply the standards of presidential candidacy to American track records? I hope not. If so, break out the master's books!
You stupid goddamn hypocrite.
Go back and reread my post. I never made any such application.
Your ad hominem attack against me is a sophomoric attempt to intimidate, which is obviously employed because you lack a COGENT argument. I'll give you 5 minutes to grab your dictionary and figure out what I just said.
As I stated earlier, the IAAF sanction, along with Kenya's is more draconian than would be an asterisk in the USTAF record book. Now put that in your bong and smoke it!
What if you lived in space, like say, on a space station some day in the future? You grew up there, for the first 16 years of your life. Then you return to US soil and train and set a world record. Do you get credit for that, since you weren't on Earth most of your life?

What if you ran a 2:03 Marathon on the moon? Would you get the WR? Your not on the World.

They get it alright. They'd fit in perfectly on the set of Jerry Springer.

Maybe you'd at worst get an asterisk?
cool. lagat wins medal for kenya and less than a year later becomes american record holder...

Actually, you said, "He cannot be President or VP of the USA, which to those like the Calif gov. is no small thing." If you agree with me that that doesn't apply to the current discussion, I'd suggest that you refrain from introducing more irrelevent chatter than you already have. Or maybe you can explain what implications Lagat's eligibility to be President have on this discussion? Please, I'd be fascinated to hear this.

Vosh, you look really, really stupid when you accuse me of relying on ad hominem attacks, when you make three in one post. Just thought you should know.

No need, thanks. The horrible structure of that "sentence" was the only real problem. Interesting that you "employ" the word "sophmoric," given that your writing reeks of a second-year student at a mediocre college where such garrulous phrasing is rewarded.

What was that you were saying about ad hominem attacks evidencing lack of a cogent argument? Pardon?
Don't worry about Webb. I still need a white face to endorse my crap if I'm going to sell energy gels to Gallowalkers.
screw running, webb should go into modeling!!! =)
<3!

HAHAHAHHA. I was honestly drinking a beer when I read this post and I spit some out I was laughing so hard. Nicely done.

Go back, reread, connect the dots.

I suggest you brush up on what constitutes an ad hominem attack.

It was uttered affectionately.

*The words of a very insecure individual.
I agree with the second poster. Almost everyone in this country, including the athletes (save Billy Mills, Becki Wells, etc.), is a non-native American. That's what's great about this country - we accept everyone who is willing to call himself/herself an "American." Just because you were born somewhere else and can't run for President (sorry Arnold), it doesn't mean you're not an American. If you're so concerned about being a pure-native American, then maybe you should go to Europe where they still care about bloodlines and crap like that, but then you would be the non-native wouldn't you - gee that must be frustrating for you.

But Penny, even the settlers were born here in America! Don't you know American History? They didn't come from other countries! Besides, he's getting US citizenship, he just shouldn't have any US Records. I got denied a school record because I was born on the moon, ate at McDonald's, but I was also training on a space station. So that did it for the school record.

You failed to mention that you're also a bloody asshole.

You could not be more incorrect. [n]ative American, with a small n, refers to those persons BORN in America.
when bekele decides to become an american he will take kennedys 5k record, as well as the 10k record. when borza decides to become an american he will take the 800m record. lagat has become an american and he will take scotts record. does anyone not see how this is annoying?? the argument made by BA and others on that side is just an acknowledgement of this little annoying part of records and changes in peoples citizenship. this is not a stupid thing to discuss at all and those that think so are missing the point.
