I said this is the logical reason. It might not be true or THE reason. Are you saying EPO testing is the same as it was 10-12 years ago?

the marathon times have EXPLODED in improved quality.
Maybe EPO helps the marathon less. I think the biggest change in the marathon is that the goalposts have moved. The event has been taken to a different level. There might well be drug related reasons too.
Tyrone ReXXXing wrote: Coe was similar, his 1:41 couldn't be beaten for nearly a quarter century. Was he doped? Possibly, but not necessarily. Didn't Ron Clarke hold the 10k record for a very long time?
These are one-offs, which if anything proves my point. It is possible Coe was more talented and trained better. It is not though a case of 8 of the top 13 ever happening over a 3-year period, and nothing comparable for 10 years afterwards. That is a red flag whether you'll admit it or not.

Why did UK produce Coe, Cram, Ovett, all at the same time, but then not produce anyone as good in 30 years?
Good question. I think Coe and Ovett pushed each other, and at that time African distance running hadn't taken off like it has now.

What is the "magic" in the marathon now?? Kipchoge is one of those runners running the apparently unbelievable track times of the (2004-2006) doped era, and......now is he is running unbelievable times in the marathon in the "cleaner/better tested era" and.......how is that possible based on your argument?
Yep, good point. As I said, I think the event has changed, and there are higher expectations.
Do you think all the 2004-2006 times were clean, and it was just a coincidence that all these times were done at the same time?

All those americans doped?
Bekele is just as likely a freak of nature as is Rudisha and Eaton. There have been ZERO signs that Geb was a doper.
I get it now. I have read on here that Bekele is untouchable, everyone's favourite GOAT. I dared to suggest he might have had a little "help". I dared to smear his name.
Maybe Bekele is and always has been clean. I sure as help hope so. He is certainly the purest running distance runner I've seen, with the last 500m of that Olympic 10km back in 2004 as one of the most amazing things I've seen. He was the ultimate combination of speed and endurance. I also hold hope that Eaton, Rudisha and Bolt are all clean, as well as Barshim, Van Niekerk, Farah, Bowie, Schippers and Dibaba.
All I am saying is the abundance of best ever times over 5km and 10km by different people within a 3-year period, is suspicious.
