Kara Goucher unloads on Alberto Salazar, Galen Rupp and the NOP - "Justice is coming."

Isn't it funny how both NOP's and Kara's fanbois blame the Brojos for everything? Bad journalism, cesspool, blah, blah...

Hey Rojo, the writers you cite in relation to Armstrong, FIFA, and the IAAF (David Walsh of the Times, and Andrew Jennings, along with the German Hajo Seppelt) are legitimate journalists. I support their efforts to stop doping and corruption. But that's not the issue I criticized Let's Run on. Let's Run gives a bullhorn to anonymous internet hostility, to strident disembodied id's who say all kinds of tedious adolescent, sexist, racist stuff, which paints a poor image of competitive running. Of course, you know that and don't care. It would be too much work for you to moderate the boards, so you embrace gutter content. When I say gutter content, I mean things like the message board thread where you discussed a British runner's use of the term "ham-sandwich" as a reference to cunnilingus (Yeah, you guys are great journalists, for sure.) It was all done with an assumption of good laughs among the boys, no girls allowed.

So anyhow, when you aim that type of gutter content at a particular individual--as you have with Rupp--while writing articles that amplify unsubstantiated claims and innuendo about that individual, it is a kind of character assassination that defamation laws address.

Lets Run often links to the British Press, because like the British Press, Let's Run is about sensation and controversy, not facts. When Mo Farah wins a race over there, he's the GOAT. But when he loses to formidable runners like Bekele or Gebrehiwet, they aren't acknowledged as great and excuses are made. I've stopped reading Mo' stories because they are mythological, deluded, and insulting to Farah's rivals. Farah is a great runner but not as great as the British Press says, because the British Press are mostly jingoists.

But look at the fart-fest that ensued with word of the NOP's supposed rule-breaking. Farah "must abandon Salazar, blah-blah-blah". And what happened there, exactly? To his credit, Farah ignored the pundits. He stayed with Salazar & Rupp. Why? Either he's pathologically arrogant that he can get away with bending/breaking the rules or he's totally correct in his assessment of the NOP.

Have you been introduced to American media? What you just described is Media in 2016. Letsrun is actually less sensationalist in that debate is encouraged... Not to mention, Letsrun is extremely interested in the facts of an issue - and goes to greater lengths to find them than anyone else in the industry.

Seriously? Where in the history the world would they get that policy from? What possible interest is it for any party to just announce a specific investigation and leave it perpetually open. Then again it is T&F. If any organization would have such a policy it would be in T&F.

This is poor journalism. Who the hell asked her the initial question? It was completely irrelevant. I blame this person.

Right after a marathon may be a bad time to give an interview and try to talk about anything substantive.

That said, I find it difficult to believe that she would be talking about this if there wasn't some truth in her allegations - so far, everyone seems to be siding with Rupp / Salazar, so it can hardly be for her personal benefit. It reminds me a little of the Christophe Bassons situation. But Bassons also had to go through many years as an outcast before he got vindicated - and I doubt NOP are going to repeat the USPS mistakes.

I'm neutral, leaning towards benefit of the doubt to NOP, on the topic. That said, after a championship marathon in the heat the combination of fatigue, glycogen debt, dehydration, and 2 1/2 hours of intense physiological stress, runners aren't in a great state of mind to field emotionally charged questions. Yes, Kara is a bit of a drama queen (not really a bad thing for a sport generally populated by wallflowers) but I won't hold her rant against her, not given the moment and circumstances.

Maybe. The allegations against Lance were that he was doing something against the rules, and everyone was saying he broke the rules. The allegations against Rupp seem to mostly be that he has been flirting with what is and isn't within the scope of the rules, and aside from Kara it seems that everyone's narrative is that the stuff on the edge shouldn't be allowed. Lots of people have said Rupp is doing stuff that shouldn't be allowed but as far as I know only Kara is saying that he actually broke the rules.

My only concern was with Kara Goucher post-race interview. She came across like a cry baby with an ax to grind. And her proverbial smirks "I know the truth" comes like a spoiled child, which people already think elite athletes are.

Let God do what He does and Kara shut your mouth and start behaving positively. Nobody likes a sore loser especially when an elite athlete comes across that the program such like Nike Project ruined your life. They didn't! You still got fourth, and unlike millions of us you ran the trials.

Kara had a great opportunity in front of millions to be gracious and humble but instead of inspiring future athletes who may want to be Olympians one day she shows up selfish! Grow up!

Maybe Kara was a little too straightforward, she just ran as hard as she could for 2.5 hours in blistering heat. She's not a robot, she wasn't giving a scripted response. Maybe she wasn't thinking before she was speaking or giving a calculated response. She's gutsy and passionate about a fair playing field. I love anyone who is a seeker of justice and will defend what is right.
