My apologies Conundrum. I let my heart get the best of me. As a true UNC basketball fan you hate to see the program tainted by this, much like Penn St and Ohio St. I honestly could care less what happens to the other sports programs but basketball in my opinion only involved a couple student athletes and even the rest of the 2005 Nat Champ team were not on the same page as McCants and denied what he had said. I mean look the kid got interviews and TV time like no other, who would not want that. I retract what I said and apologize for those punches at you, I was wrong and admit my mistake for that post. Yes Brock Bakers post was genuine and sad but true to hear. Butttt in my opinion and mine only, the Penn St scandal far far far exceeds anything with this and look at the fans there, they are still fans. 100,000 still show up to football games.

I see this as much more than a sports issue. The school gave credit for noncourses. I don't blame the players or even the advisors.

Wrong. NINE members of the 2005 UNC "championship" basketball team were AFAM majors. Roy Williams had more players in AFAM classes than any other previous basketball coach. His players took 167 AFAM classes in a relatively short period of time.
Roy Williams' excuse is that didn't think it was good for his players to be clustered in one major. (He denies knowing AFAM was a sham, just thought players should not be clustered). Yet, the 2009 had NINE Communications majors. So, evidently, he lied when he said players should not be clustered in one major. Read the Weldon emails - the same man Roy brought with him from Kansas and claimed was the most important person on his staff. Weldon was definitely in on the scheme.
If you read the supplemental, UNC became very concerned about the Auburn academic scandal and were afraid they were going to be caught. Not to mention, with Crowder retiring, they knew keeping up the fraud would be more difficult.

No-- the report says that no coaches ADMITTED to knowing about the easy classes. Not the same thing.I don't know how much contact you've had with big-money college athletics, but the thought that the coaches didn't know what their kids were doing academically is pretty laughable. I tutored a NCAA top-10 basketball program and a top-25 baseball team and the coaches knew exactly where their students were and how they were studying at all times. Once again, the investigators interviewed the coaches and said that none of them ADMITTED to knowing. That's not the same thing as "not knowing."

Sounds like he is doing the right thing. He's being loyal to the University that signs his checks. He's also being loyal to his family.What color is the sky in the world you live in? Would you really call a foul on something like this? There isn't a company in America who wants an employee like you. Are you a person who likes the lime light so much that you would really jeopardize dozens of families to get your name in the paper as a whistle blower? What happened at UNC hurt no one. The "heroes" who put this thing center stage will get what they deserve. Mary Willingham will get an award and some recognition in the next few months, but look her up in 5 years. There was no "integrity" in what she did, and she is going to feel the effects soon enough. I hope her book deal was worth it.
