I would say he is aged 18 not 19.

Embarrassing for their runners losing to a 50-year-old.
If Kipchoge is more than 40 and Bekele more than his official 37, then it reflect very badly for non african runners in Marathon.
So I believe that their official age are their real age since it would humiliate all of the rest of the world if they were more than 40 and being so far ahead of the marathon field.

You're posts are so unintelligent it makes me cringe.
I would bet a lot of money that many of these Africans are not the age they are given.
As Canova said, Kenya didn't get consistent with distributing birth certificates until 2003. (Who are age 11 at most now). Athletes are simply aged generally by the time they enter school for their first year.
If you didn't comprehend that, picture this. Imagine the expected age to start school in Kenya is six. So when a kid goes to school for their first year, they are dated as six. While some of these kids may be six, or maybe a select few may even be younger (but doubt it, so save yourself the trouble), many are a few years older who started schooling later than expected. So even though they could be 7-8-9-10-11, they are now 'six' because they started school finally.
I.E why Caleb Ndiku acknowledged he has a different birthday after his 3000 in Ostrava, despite the IAAF having another date listed.
Do you seriously think a true 16 or 17 year old could run 3:33 for 1500 (Nicholas Kemboi, 2006), 12:54 for 5000 (Abreham Cherkos, 2006), or 27:02 (Ibrahim Jeylan, 2006)????
Or even for Juniors (19U), who have run 1:41/3:30/3:49/7:28/12:47/26:41 for 800/1500/Mile/3000/5000/10000???
Yomif Kejelcha, world youth 3000 champ last year and just named to the Ethiopia Junior team in the 5000, was born "August 1, 1997" - He is still "SIXTEEN" and has ran 4:57i for 2000 (worth a 3:53 MILE) at age FIFTEEN and just recently behind Ndiku in 7:36 for 3000 in Ostrava.
I'm not being racist, NO DOUBT THEY ARE TALENTED AND WORK HARD. Not even looking at age, those times are lethal, but no true sixteen year old is running that fast that early.
And save yourself the race arguments, nobody refutes Mary Cain's birth certificate because she is white. She could be blue and nobody would give a single f*ck.
They don't refute it because it has been presented and approved (because she was born in a first world country on top of things such as birth certificates), since that is the requirment to get into meets like US Juniors. They have to make sure that the athlete is age eligible. And surprise, surprise! They do that through birth certificates.
So 12 years after you accuse Yomif Kejelcha of “age cheating” he runs a 1:59 marathon. What say you?
